Bonus!!! Do you have all the channels you had previously though? I can not find a cheaper equivilant package on Sky compared to what I have, or was it a special half price for 3/6 months deal when you joined?

Prices and packages from Virgin and SKY can vary depending on what you want, and what you need. In terms of their top end offerings, there isn't much difference at all.

The VIP collection from Virgin is currently £113.99 per month (including phone line)

The SKY equivalent is £113.00 per month:

SKY World - £65.75
Multiroom - £10.25
ESPN - £10.00
SKY broadband unlimited - £7.50
SKY line rental - £14.50
SKY talk anytime - £5.00

99p is all that seperates both in terms of monthly cost. It then comes down to personal preference. Virgin have the fastest broadband and best PVR. SKY have the best channel line-up and best TV on the go service.

I have just joined SKY on a 12 month half price deal. Will I still be with SKY in 12 months time, it all depends on what BT and Virgin are doing by then.

£83 for 6 months then £103 that's for sports, movies 24/7 free calls and 15mb broadband. Cracking deal imho and not one I had to fight for it was just given. This is always the biggest thread on this forum so the channels people don't get on VM is clearly an issue(even though most will profess its not) for most people. With that in mind give Sky a chance for in most cases I'm guessing, not to dissimilar cost you get a whole lot more.

I thought there was an hd charge on sky, or have you lumped that in with the sky world price?

No Chad has included it in the Sky World price , it's still possible to have Sky World at £55.50 without the further £10.25 HD charge.

Yes it's true, channels are an issue, but less so now. The main problem is Sky Atlantic and the additional HD channels we have been hankering after.

But really, most of the channels we don't get are not worth having. I am not impressed simply by the number of channels Sky has.

I have seen both systems in action and as my daughter has Sky (reluctantly, because she lives in a non-cabled area), I am up to date with what they currently offer.

VM is still for me, but things may change over time. BT is interesting, but they have a long way to go before they tempt me.

Sky might come up with the goods as far as I am concerned in the future, but they are not there yet. And if the next TIVO lets you store unlimited recordings in the cloud, it will take a lot to tempt me to any other system! My 1TB TIVO box is certainly fantastic, but it varies between being 83%-91% full. It's a constant battle to keep it down now and I cannot record as much HD as I would like.

The more you get, the more you want, I guess.

I found that Sky would have been very slightly cheaper than Virgin for me, but TiVo is a big selling point, but even more importantly Virgin's internet is so much better than Sky's for my area.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2013) Vol. 1.

My Sky box might not be as good as the TiVo but my Sky box gets all the channels most people on here would like. Personally I didn't see what the big deal was with the TiVo when I had one, but each to their own.

Thanks Chad, that's very interesting. I have never checked that tariff (it's far too expensive for me.) You ar eright about the prefrences and (even if I was allowed Sky)VM is still right for me still. It's always nice to have some balance though:). Am looking forward to see what is on offer from all providers in 6 months or so!!

It was not Virgin Media who drop them.

It was Bauer Radio who drop them from Digital TV (Sky and NTL) due to costs.

I always find the never ending demand for Sky Atlantic a bit of a joke has anyone ever looked at the show line up on that channel today listings

http://theguardiandev.tvgenius.net/t...ky-atlantic-hd

it is a re hash of Sky 1 and Sky Living ? and TBH with the new and exclusive shows they have do you see Sky parting with it any time soon ?
Anyone seen Blue Bloods , Boardwalk empire on any other channels ?
