Re: TiVo
A couple of more questions, if anyone can help:
1. Is the catch up service on ALL programming? 2. How soon after transmission is it up loaded? 3. Is the catch up recordable? 4. Does it come with a qwerty keyboard? Sorry, it was few more than a couple. :D |
Re: TiVo
There is a qwerty remote available for Tivo in the US (http://www.crunchgear.com/2010/08/24...qwerty-remote/) and it's quite likely you'll be able to get it over here (or import it).
Or control it all remotely with the rather cool ipad app.. |

Virgin may fare slightly better now that 3D On Demand is being added at no extra cost to the basic TV packs. http://www.techradar.com/news/televi...content-917719 3D documentaries available to XL TV customers only 3D Sun – 23 Dec Dinosaurs Alive – 23 Dec Mummies - Jan Waking the T-Rex: The Story of Sue – Jan Siegfried and Roy: The Magic Box - Jan The Extreme Nature Bats - Feb MircoWorlds - Feb 3D animations available to all Virgin Media TV customers Xenopod – 23 Dec Curse of Skull Rock – 23 Dec The Mission - Jan Voyage to Mars - Jan |
Re: TiVo
VM have got their TV strategy spot on and have got one up on Sky IMO.
TiVo - Looks fantastic and is a massive step up on the current V+, really looking forward to its release. 3D - Put it all on On Demand and see what the take up is and NOT hastily releasing a dedicated 3D channel full of repeats because the content just isn't there yet. 2011 is going to be a great year for VM TV and if the main negative statement the Sky execs have is 'It's a pretty expensive box that you don't own' then VM have nothing to worry about. |
Re: TiVo
We'll see. If anyone has the resources to push us to 3D, it's Sky. Despite all the advertising, 3D TV's have only been out for a few months, and 3D is still rather an expensive option. There's also the need for glasses, which is putting people off. Not to mention the current lack of decent 3d content.
I think 3D will become more prevalent when people can buy low end LCDs that do a reasonable job of showing 3D with no glasses. However, I don't believe 3D will ever become the selling point Sky and others are trying to hype it as. Tivo may well become a major selling point, and VM have the advantage that they can introduce 3D if it does sell well. Sky cannot do the same with Tivo. |
Re: TiVo
Once something like call of duty 3d comes out then 3d tvs will take off
