1. Grimsby for some reason has always come under nottingham when channel transmition done. So we always seem to get central TV as our main ITv station and our proper ITV Yorkshire 751, its the same with our BBC 1. Now I am not bothered that this happened as I am not particularly fond of look north calender. They treat this area with contempt when reporting news. The problem lies we always had 2 ITV's and 2 BBC's regioned channels to cover the problem. I would like it be kept that way.

Not quite sure on this one... so pass...

2. Grimsby have since the days of diamond always had our very own community channel broadcast Channel 7 which on digital is 925.

So do we assume this will no longer the case after the reshuffle. I am for the need to conform the platforms. However I would say other regions have issues such as ours.
The community channel is 233 on the new listings- so looks like it isn't disappearing, just moving a bit. There is a community channel here as well, currently on channel 511. Never watched it though so no idea what's on.

I hope that what I read was roughly what is correct for the main would suffice for many regions with exceptions like us not losing out on channels we always recieved.
I don't see anything at all being lost here- it is as far as i can see just a renumbering.

The regional channels (extra BBC/ITV regions, Channel M (Manchester), etc.) will remain. The numbers will change, but they're not listed on that PDF as they'll be different in each area.

You won't lose any channels as a direct result of the renumbering.

As long as my Tivo gets updated (I know it's up to Tivo to do this), I'll be OK.

Renumbering? All I've noticed is that they are now all in the correct chronological order..Not sure if it's a boon or not yet.It will reinforce my husband's habit of not learning the channel numbers. He'll just flick up or down instead.:erm:

Well quadplay I'm dissappointed in you. With all that TiVo love I would have thought you'd have convinced ntl to license the TiVo software for their PVR! ;) :p:

thanks quadplay for this reply and same with Chris W.

On Chris W comments I assumed this is the national community channel which currently number 511.

In sense quadlplay has probably hit the nail that these are general line up and there will be variations which will be added to the line up like local channel other area terrestrial channels like we get central & yorkshire.

Maybe in future the might transmit them all then you could watch whichever regional news you want.

Cheers for the reply folks

The alternative BBC1 (for those that have one) will be on 858. Alternative ITVs will be 870 and 871.

Channel M (Manchester only) is 878. Channel 7 (err... Grimsby???) is 879.

Me too! I find that slightly worrying.

Can anyone from ntl confirm that the change over for Bromley will be at the end of September? If that is the case, why such a large gap between the Langley and Bromley renumbering? Surely, the whole lot can be done on the same day.

Not a happy bunny at all.
I like the channels starting at 1, NOT 101. I know it sounds a tiny gripe, but it p*sses me off that again ntl change something that works.

Erm... You're saying having Paramount on 105 and Paramount 2 on 936 works? :erm:

Sorry, I'm being facetious, but seriously having one- and two-digit channel numbers just doesn't make sense on a platform with hundreds of channels.

It works for DTT because there's only a few channels (comparitively) - those over 100 are special channels like Interactive streams and Radio - but cable has over a hundred channels that could fit into 'General Entertainment'.

How do you decide what gets channel 15 and what gets channel 150 without upsetting one of the channel providers? Much better to have 140 and 150 - same number of keypresses then!
