:banghead:

Just phoned ntl back to get the upgrade and a.) there's no record of my earlier call and b.) no I will NOT get the 10Mb until December :grind:

I hate it when ntl do this. I don't mind having to wait until december - but I spoke the same callcentre, the same department and 2 people have told me conflicting things.

And as usual, the first person I spoke to did not make a record of the call. :grind:

Ah well, let's hope my email to one of ntl's directors gets the person in the wrong in a serious amount of trouble.

Yes I did! That's why I was so surprised when the first person I spoke to told me it was available now. I asked her if she was absolutely sure of this and she went away for a while and told me when she came back that I could definately have it.

I'm amazed that they offered to swap your samsung out. That's all I asked for and was told I couldn't have it. So I cancelled the TV and telephone and hey presto the modem will be installed in December.
It's extraordinary how NTL are so short sighted that they lose a customer!

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

Given this section of the first post of part 3 ..

**********
The following are not capable of 10Mb:
ntl:home 100 (silver Ambit manufactured modem)
Terayon Terajet 210
Motorola Surfboard 3100/4100
***********

I have the Ambit 100 modem and I was upgraded to 10M a couple of days ago. The modem received the new settings (I checked). But alas I get no more than 3M (which I was on before)....

Now the above says 'not capable of 10Mb' - does this mean actually not capable of 10M (but could do 5M), or, its simply not capable of being used on the faster network. If the later is the case, i this why I can get no more than 3 M?

Thing is, If I were getting say 5M I would be happy and would wait for further upgrades as and when NTL gets around to it. But since I have no more than 3M I am wondering if it is the modem or something else. CS / Tech support have no ideas .....

Any thoughts?

cheers

Mark

I would've thought that if you ordered broadband on it's own you'd get a cable modem. The samsungs are so big compared to the stand alone units.
I'm wondering whether I should ring again and see if I can get a modem put in without me having to disconnect TV and phone. :dozey:

Sorry if this as been asked a million times before:

Im currently on 3mb and know that 10MB is being trialled in my area (Nottingham)

If I DOWNGRADE over the phone, can I UPGRADE online directly after?

In my experiance with NTL if you dont ask you definitely wont get. I wouldnt be on the trial of up to 10mb if i didnt ask. My download maybe crap but my upload is cool at 65-70kb/s.

Re: *ALL* ntl 10MB Discussion (Part 3)

Sorry if this has been covered already but it has been a very long day and I really cant be bothered sifting through the mass amount of posts. Can anyone tell me if the Renfrew area has been upgraded yet to 10mb? If not, does anyone have any idea when it will be?

If it is available can some very kind and decent person tell me where I go to obtain this upgrade?

Many thanks in advance!!!
