Unverified reports saying that Virgin have been calling customers to say that TiVo is to shortly be decommissioned (presume they mean the first slow TiVo boxes) and that the V6 only has one year left as the TiVo licence expires then.

Amusingly, some put the phone down assuming it was a scammer :D. This is what happens when you use staff with the same accent as those that a lot of scammers use.

Where are these reports? Are they in the room with you now?

It's well known the the old TiVo boxes are bricks and no longer in use.

I've got my 18 monthly haggle coming up soon and would rather keep the V6 TiVo software... Lets see if they give a deadline when I speak to them

To be fair, O2 does label these calls as Suspected Spam. Maybe the Virgin Media side of VMO2 should tell O2 that the calls are genuine. :D

Funnily enough, most scam callers I get are identifiably British from their regional accents.

Received at text message from VM about SA and "upgrading" to TV 360. It ends "Text NO to xxxxx to opt out". Is that for opting out of the endless messages about SA, or is it opting out of a forced "upgrade"?

Re: Sky Atlantic: Rubbish

Normally that would be to opt out of the messages.

But the message is only about "you'll just need to upgrade ...".
Not the normal type of unsolicited message trying to sell you something. Already had disabled notifications and marketing consent from VM

Their problem is they need punters to 'opt in', as the 'upgrade' deletes recordings. That way the riff raff can have no comeback. I suspect the number of conversions aren't where they need them to be....

Before Sky Atlantic, figures released by Sky & Virgin suggest that about 2/3 of people hadn't converted to the 360.

I suspect that they would rather persuade (read harrass) people into voluntarily converting as they can they say that the customer chose it.

I wonder too whether new deals will become dependent on changing to the 360. A dangerous manipulative game to play as some customers will decide to cancel instead. By the time they've done, they will have been better off paying the TiVo fees. It might have even been more cost effective to buy out TiVo as they have stopped doing PVR's and moved into TV's

These messages are false advertising too. All Virgin customers with internet access are able to receive Sky Atlantic via TVGo to watch on a device or cast to their TV- there is no need to change to 360 to do so.

This is the answer to your own question you seem to have missed the method. Go to internet on smart TV, search for virgin TV go and set it up . At least it works on my LG . Bit of faff to do but it works ;)
