To be fair Den that's not VM's fault though is it , its £2 cheaper than Premier Sports costs on Sky , I agree however its not something I'd subscribe to.

Nor me. Have to say, watched a few hockey games last week or so. If it was £5 a month I might consider adding it on, but £8 a month? No chance.

l am not saying its Virgin's fault MM but it simply has not got enough good sports content and thus compared to other channels it represents very poor value.

Same here, not much sport I'd watch but if it was HD or at least decent SD I'd maybe consider it for say £5.

Don't think they will get anywhere near that.

Re: Coming soon to Virgin TV 2014

i will continue to enjoy having Premier Sports while it is free.

I have enjoyed the NHL coverage but theres not that much else for me. Not bothered about Rugby League and most of the other stuff on there..perhaps some GAA. Overall not enough content for me to justify £8pm and from the reaction of many people on here most feel the same.

The picture quality, as some have said, is good for SD but these days you expect Sports & Movies to be available in HD.

i just dont think it represents good value when you compare it to Sky Sports or BT Sports portfolio.

Enjoy the freeview while we can i say.

I had been under the impression one of the main reasons it has taken so long for VM to carry Premier Sports was both parties had differing views on the value/cost of the channel and perhaps Premier Sports had over estimated its worth.

If subscription take up is poor i wonder if Premier Sports and VM will get together and put forward a new offer- perhaps a lower fee if it remains a standalone channel or maybe into some type of VM pack ? (XL ?/ Premier Collection?)

i presume Premier Sports would like as many viewers as possible to increase its advertising revenues and maybe VM would view the channel as providing more value to some of its tv packs if the price was right

Nobody has said the picture quality is good for SD? Quite frankly it's terrible for SD

If Now TV appeared on Tivo, I think this would be the version available.

In other news, I wonder if MGM HD could make it onto VM? It's still listed on UPC Ireland under the HD channels.

I was under the impression that Now TV carried a range of live TV channels, including SA. I didn't realise that there were two versions

Dave, can you please enlighten us on here as to what this "stupid price" is,because up until now I have not seen any official figures and I am sure there have not been any issued (and nor should there be until any deal is struck):confused:

AFAIK, no figure has been divulged by either party. However, I think it safe to assume that VM are not willing to pay what Sky say it is worth, or SA would be on VM now wouldn't it.

You're right, Premier Sports wanted to be included in XL, whilst VM wanted the channel to be on a standalone basis.

After pressure from the Parliamentary Rugby League Committee, the channel was made available at no extra cost to give VM viewers access to the rugby world cup, whilst some number crunching was carried out.

The fact that it is now going standalone appears to suggest that VM were correct in their previous assumptions.
