Re: BBC to Launch 5 New HD Channels
I do find this a very odd thread. Agreed there is a debate on children's tv and how much they should watch, but the launch of the remaining BBC HD channels makes sense, costs very little if anything overall apparently, and will be available on all platforms.
Whilst not the most exciting news ever it is not something I can find to be worth complaining about. |

Do not see why News 3 and 4 should go HD and not the children's channels. |

Never even look at BBC 3 as it's content is of no interest to me. BBC4 has some great music documentaries on amongst other things. |

Ditto for me but the other way around, never find anything interesting on BBC4 but watch BBC3 all the time |
Re: BBC to Launch 5 New HD Channels
I think it's a good idea. My days of children’s TV are over (for now), but in the days it used to be on here I would have loved to have had to endure it in HD. There must be a call for it or the 'commercial' children’s TV providers wouldn't have embraced the technology, because commercial companies (especially American ones) just throw money down the drain don't they?

I would watch loads of stuff on Four but most of it would bore missus to tears. We tend to have One on mostly, if at all. Actually we watch a lot less telly than we used to. It's on a lot during the late afternoon and early evening for the kids (until we chase them outside or upstairs), so for aesthetic reasons I'm glad we will be able to have CBBC and Cbeebies in HD as SD doesn't look great on our TV. |
Re: BBC to Launch 5 New HD Channels
It makes no cost difference for the childrens channels to launch in HD if BBC Three/Four are.
The Playout and Transponder space is exactly the same, if you sit in continuity at BBC Three, you will sit and watch CBBC until the channel goes live at 7 because of this. There is approximatly a 1 1/2 minute switchover between the channels, from Kids going off to BBC Three/Four coming on. So why shouldn't kids have HD? Nick, Disney, Cartoon Network etc seem to be in HD so why not the BBC ones? |
Re: BBC to Launch 5 New HD Channels
Don't see what the fuss is about, we are getting 5 more HD channels free ones at that.(Even though they are funded by the TV licence)
Start complaining when all you get is shopping channels in HD or the slappers on a sofa channels. Rant done. |
Re: BBC to Launch 5 New HD Channels
Slappers on a sofa channel - not heard that one before :)
