What a spectacular disappointment on the channel choice, it doesn't even have the channels that were there during the brief trial (Channel 5 etc).

You need some new specs, mate ;) All three of them (5, 5* and 5USA) are available on the website and in the app. The other channels are also there; that I can see.

Though I do agree that the app could do with some more channels.

More channels will be added over time.

I figured that would be the case, Stephen.

What an earth are you on about ? Fanboy you really should read your own posts ;) with that channel list I wouldn't be able to stream two thirds of my planner.

Re: Multiroom streaming ... who's ready?

It's a terrible list of channels, but I don't blame VM. When are OFCOM going to do something usefull and tell these content providers to stop getting in the way of new features that viewers want.

VM have paid for the content to be recorded on a Tivo. Why are content providers ALLOWED to prevent that same paid for content, being viewed on the same type of box in a different room in the house? It beggars all logical belief, yet the content providers get away with imposing totally illogical restrictions on a simple function that benefits viewers who have paid for the content, not illegally downloaded it. And the content providers wonder why people illegally download things; they should look to their own restrictive practices for some of the reasons.

So how many channels on that list would you stream if you had a second Tivo?

It would be helpfull to know when more channels are likely to be added, because with the current channel list, it's of limited value to me.

If you look at a lot of my posts lately they have been quite critical of Virgin.

Not me that needs the new specs mate ;), we're talking about Multi Room Streaming (MRS) not TV Anywhere. There's no app and no website required for MRS just a minimum of two Tivo boxes.

That's why I find it spectacularly disappointing, I could watch the Live feed from any web connection on an authorised computer, but if I record it and want to watch it back from within the same network (in my house) I can't. TV Anywhere, yup it looks good, MRS, good concept, good technically but poor content.

I'm getting quite confused here (not difficult I know :erm:). This thread is about multi-room streaming though a few people have mentioned the Virgin TV Anywhere which was also just launched.

As far as I can see TV Anywhere has a restricted list of channels that can be viewed on an Apple device but MRS allows you to stream anything that you have on one Tivo box to another Tivo box with no restriction by channel.

Have I got that wrong and if so can someone point me to the list of MRS restrictions as I can only see one on the TV Anywhere page.

Cheers

No, your not confused or wrong - Carlwaring was the one who got confused and started talking about TVanywhere and the App ;)

The only mistake you have made is assuming that you will be able to stream *anything* that you have recorede box to box, the actauly channels where the Box to Box streaming will work are listed here.
