Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion

Well i had to remove it last night and go back to my trusty windows 7 backup.

Main problem was gaming, i play BF3 on the NTHWgaming.co.uk servers and i found that my frame rates and general play was somewhat reduced under windows 8.

Last night i had many issues during our Friday night gaming and drinking session :D. In the end it was that bad that i had to remove windows 8 and reinstall my windows 7 backup. There was an immediate improvement in frame rates and general game play.

Maybe Microsoft would prefer we play games on there kiddie console and not on our pc's.

Or, to be fair it might be because the maker of your graphics card haven't got final Win8 drivers?

Driver issue not WIN 8 fault not RTM yet although the AMD drivers on mine went in ok and seem stable but I am not using it as a main OS yet

found a real strange fault with win 8 on a stand alone OS

I have Win 7 on a 120 ssd and win 8 on 60 gig ssd each their own install changed boot priority for each so each has its own system partition so totally separate.

Boot into win 8 network dies have to uninstall Nic reboot and its fine. However when I boot back into 7 it finds new hardware fails on the Nic again has to be uninstalled and rebooted and its fine. I have no idea how this is happening but it is . Love an oddity me lol

Is the disc important to you? If you just upgrade via Microsoft.com (download) its only £25 vs. £50 on a disc from Amazon (and presumably elsewhere).
