Having said that there is such a thing as beginners luck. ;)

The first time I went greyhound racing I didn't have a clue what I was doing but won nearly £150... a lot of money to an apprentice electrician in 1977;)

I've only been once since... all I got was very wet and a large chunk of the £150 returned to the tote. :(

Yawn all you want, buddy - but my step-dad was a bookie, and the only thing that he liked more than a punter was an ignorant punter who didn't know what he was doing......;)

One thing you got to remember thenry is that the bookies are no fools and will try to entice people in with free bets and all their other clever little ploys but one things for certain you will never see a poor one.

Re: Sports Betting

I had a few bets on the England game and at half time I was down (about £1) but due to the Bet365 ad coming up, I had bets on few different correct scores, including the winning score. Overall winning, about £1.50.

Should probably thank this thread for telling me about the Netherlands and Northern Ireland game. Because it was mentioned I had a look through the form and have now won my over 2.5goals bet

Re: Sports Betting

I sometimes put on the "penalty" bet, the way it works is this, say, you put a total of £10 on, the way i do it is £5 for a pen to be missed and £5 for a pen to be scored, the odds can be quite good depending on which teams are playing of course, you often get 12/1 for a pen missed and about 7/2 for a scored pen, the games need to be on TV, on a couple of ocassions i've had both up and came away with a tidy sum, its just a bit of fun, i never bet "serious" money.

2 out of 3.. not bad :)

Lewandowski (1st goal) £1 @ 9/2
Poland (1st goal) £1 @ 7/4

and lost - Poland to win £1 @ 11/10
