Dosnt the US one require a PC running all the time? I don't want the official VM one to work "perfectly" like that.

That's only necessary to trick the app into talking to the VM TiVo. Assuming they release it before we all die of old age, the VM one won't need the script.

The US android app still works*, provided you fake the zeroconf responses (which the scripts were mostly doing anyway) as Tivo no longer sends out any at all. Presume the ipad app is the same - a lot of the later scripts tried to automatically configure themselves and that'll fail now as you can no longer discover the tivo on the network automagically.

The stuff that's gone is the documented tivo remote stuff..

* Although nowhere near as completely as the ipad app.. you don't get channel/episode graphics.

Interesting, and you're sure your on the "fixed" firmware?

I don't have an android device, but does anybody know where I can get the app from? I might want to have a poke about with it....

.

Ah, the lovely restful-on-the-eyes red user interface that flies in the face of all accepted UI colour conventions. It bet it looks as good on an iPad as it does on a TV,. Corporate madness

Though I'm surprised by this, I find the red interface on a TV screen works OK.

Anyone complaining about the red interface obviously never had to use the old pink NTL interface.

Yes people could have a mistaken impression when coming into the house and seeing that on their TV screen.:D

Has anyone tried these android apps after the downgrade:-

https://market.android.com/details?i...=search_result

https://market.android.com/details?i...wxLDEsImNvbS5t...

Do they work ? Is it just TiVo Commnder that has been 'exterminated' ?

Can't test it yet as I haven't been downgraded. My TiVO is therefore apparantly very unstable, but somehow I'm managing to cope ;)

I wouldn't be too worried about instability. You should be more concerned about the security risk that you're still vulnerable to. That's what's keeping me awake at night. ;)

They work fine after the upgrade.

Thanks, that's something at least. No doubt VM will kill them with their next 'upgrade'. They're not a patch on TiVo Commander but I mainly want the apps for the remote function. Am sending my TiVo signal upstairs with an AV sender. Also have a VHD in the bedroom, using the VHD remote ended up changing both boxes (!). Using an android app is a way round this.

Still a shame about Commander. It's much faster and slicker than anything VM have ever produced , maybe that was the real problem. I don't expect to see a VM version within the next 12 months.
