OK Nopanic, let me sum up (hopefully without spelling mistakes).

The company that you work for (and I am a customer of) called me shortly after I'd called them to find out the date my contract ended.

After a long conversation a representative advived me to do exactly what I've outlined in my OP after talking to his manager.

I do not care for myself as if it doesn't work I go BT Infinity on 4th April and my contract with VM ends 23rd April.

I do care about VM customers I leave behind, if BT proves to be better I will be reporting to the fact here.

No bickering whatsoever!

As I said let us know after the install if it is allowed or it goes belly up, I will not hold my breath but will be pleasantly surprised if it all goes well.

I'll be truthful Masque, I expect it to go belly-up.

Why do you think BT Infinity is being installed on the 4th April? My contract ends on the 23rd!

I'm going to a more exciting place to live!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Vmng300

If you can get it closed as office only it should work. Ive never tried it but if you were to hit the super hub then re-hit the modem it might work.

All I know is the engineer wont leave the vmg300 behind for you to experiment as soon as he scans it it belongs to him and he is liable for it if it gets lost

Then the reason to be told to hide it before install.

If he can't scan it he doesn't have it.

Re: Vmng300

craig it does go both ways.

examples are

1 - officially on 30mbit if got a superhub its not possible to get a vmng300, people have successfully done this, dispite staff saying not posssible.
2 - when 30mbit launched all these 3 kept saying there will be no discounts, but sure enough the discounts came and they were wrong again.

all the 3 are doing is saying company policy, however there will be instances where the odd staff member may not honour that policy or retentions/CEO office overule it for the sake of reducing churn.

Whether or not this scenario is one of those situations we have to wait and see, but I think saying pip should apologise is unfair I havent seen any of these guys apologise when they post rubbish.

Re: Vmng300

Except 30Mbit is possible with a modem by product design if you already have one. This is designed to support customers downgrading from 50Mbit - so at a push it is possible to do it if you don't.

100Mbit is an upgrade for everyone, so is only provisioned via a SuperHub

Re: Vmng300

If at any time I'm proved wrong I will apologise.

However if I'm told something by retentions which proves not to be the case I will not apologise on their behalf.

Wonder why they need to support customers downgrading fronm 50Mb?

Re: Vmng300

whoa i said appologise if they are wrong when the date comes

but not now

also, I know they send out vmng300's to replace superhubs, im getting one myself!!!
but for 50mb not 100

the vm staff say that the vmng300 cant be added to the 100mb so it cant
we will see

---------- Post added at 22:36 ---------- Previous post was at 22:35 ----------

this is becoming a lot like a telfordcable thread

Re: Vmng300

craig we know it can be added as one here has done it on his own account, we have already established it is not a technical limitation. It is simply company policy.

ben product design or not, its VM's company policy to not allow vmng300's to go to any customer who doesnt have an existing one regardless of tier. However customers via rententions and the CEO office have bypassed this policy successfully.

Re: Vmng300

If the modem is not present the engineer should charge you £50 for lost modem. Then report it lost which wipes the MAC off the system!

Re: Vmng300

in theory

Re: Vmng300

I cant get a hold of a vmg300 and im an engineer, so how can you get one? There are none at my local store for collecting equipment

Chrysalis 24-03-2011 21:43

Re: Vmng300

the CEO office are dishing them out based on demand and to to reduce churn. Thats how I am getting mine, but I been told I need to wait 10 working days as they waiting for new stock.

pip08456 24-03-2011 21:49

Re: Vmng300

OK then that leaves the option of telling then engineer that he must leave it and if he doesn't want to then he must ring retentions in my presence.

The option I've agreed is the engineer comes, puts the superhub in for 100Mb,,,,,,, goes and I put the VMNG300 back online. End of story! If that doesn't happen then I cancel 100Mb immediately. No Problem!
