I suggest all who are unhappy about these adverts make a complaint to VM. If they get enough complaints, they will surely have to rethink their policy.

If people don't let them know of their disgruntlement, they will eventually extend the adverts to all areas of on-demand.

I agree fully! Let them know how you feel about this stupid sneaky advertising! The more of us that complain the more likely they are to take notice.:wtf:

Bear in mind that advertising could help subsidise the service. Less advertising may mean higher prices.

It would be nicer if they weren't repeated all the time, or was done after certain thresholds/criteria fulfilled i.e. view 3 videos, play ad, view 3 videos, play ad and so on.

I understand what you are saying spiderplant, but the way it is at the moment is way too excessive. It happens on almost every video. Bearing in mind most videos only last 3 to 4 minutes, and the ads are usually the same one, it becomes very very annoying. And personally I would rather a pay a couple of extra quid a month for an ad-free service - this won't happen of course because I'm sure VM can make more money from advertisers.

jtaylor has a valid point, they should limit the ads, but I would say 5 videos minimum before the ad appears. Or even scrap them from the music on demand and put them around other programmes. If a program is 45 minutes or 1 hour long, then a few seconds of adverts beforehand isn't a major annoyance.

I agree the appearance of ads could be a lot better. More work needed!

If this is the case, why didn't I see my prices fall when they started this?

Wishful thinking, don't forget Virgin are about to introduce their 5th price rise in about 12 months.

Oh I know it's wishful thinking, just making the point that I don't buy this 'ads keep subscriptions down' nonsense.

I have also noticed ads between music videos and also before a 4 on demand program. Very annoying even if it does help keep the price down

Re: Adverts on Music on Demand

I phoned up and reported this as a fault this morning.

The guy from india didn't seem aware of adverts being played before every music video, has credited me £5 off my bill next month and has escalated it to another team for investigation. He said they would probably call back within 5 days. I'll update you if that happens (won't be holding my breath).

My gut feeling tells me this is deliberate and if it is, that is enough for me to drop all my services with virgin and go back to sky. I can't tolerate ads that are this aggressive, my brain cannot cope with being hammered with yet more ads and I'm sick of corporates treating us like unintelligent drones. I couldn't care less about profits or "costs", personally I value my sanity.

Anyone else reported this or have a different answer?

I've logged this as a complaint through the website after reading the advice of other posters. It takes a few minutes to do but if enough people do it, hopefully VM will reduce the number of ads (I doubt they'll eliminate them!)

As annoying as the ads are it wont be enough to send me over to the dark side!

Me too. Just had a phone call from Virgin. Lady said that they have received lots of complaints this weekend about the same thing.

It is NOT a fault, but something Virgin is doing. My complaint will be passed on and changes could be made in the coming weeks.

If it was implemented better, then people wouldn't complain about it in my opinion.
