Re: running in safe mode so much quicker

While doing a bit of poking around today i saw a number of people who had a similar issue to your original one which was solved by stoping the Bonjour DNS service which is downloaded with itunes, etc.

Might be worth a try going to services.msc selecting the service and setting it to Disabled. You shouldn`t need it auto starting anyway!

p.s. Also try drag and droping the nvm60x32 file back to the System32/Drivers folder and see if it lets you install.

Possible other option is to download Software Information 4 Windows form http://www.gtopala.com/ (the green Download SIW) which gives comprehensive information on your computer.
Run it and look at the Hardware->Motherboard+Network Adapters and we may be able to try a different driver.

Still reading through the other stuff advised but for now Ive attached what info it gave me.. when it says device fails to start if I click check for windows solutions it comes up with a could not load device driver error

Im not that far from you Nikon :D To be honest if i cant fix this myself (with some help lol) then Im just going to have to get a new laptop or even better fix my PC, Ive started getting crc errors when unpacking torrents and I read that could mean the HDD on its way out :erm: As I said I hate laptops :(

edit: right Ive copied the file back into drivers, Ive stopped bonjour, I removed from device manager and reinstalled, Im now back to the 2006 drivers, device shows as working but still no connection :)

Just really throwing things out there now, but if you go to Network Connections right click on the nvidia controller and select Status/Details does it show a Physical Address (MAC) eg 00-0F-EA-XX-XX

wahoo I still need the prices for the stuff we spoke about but with regards to the network adaptor...

matty is a legend, matty is a legend nah nah nah nah hey! :cleader::cleader:

Matty pm'd me with a programme to run to assign my network adaptor a new mac address and its worked! Only thing that bothers me is Ive picked from a dropdown selection of macs and I picked one in the USA, are there any security issues etc with using a mac thats listed to a company round the world? The most I could get down was 17Mb but that may be due to my line. Programme was http://www.technitium.com/tmac/index.html

Matty you should work in I.T :D

big thanks to everybody for the help :)

I`m thinking of changing to DD-WRT myself with the D-Link i have, let us know how straightforward it is (if that`s what your doing) and i`ll be tempted to have a bash :D

Glad the new MAC address worked, it may have been fine just to reset the cards original one but hey it`s doing it`s job so let it be ;)

Sorted :tu:
