Re: Help With PC Build
Overclocking is irrelevent the freezer will spin slower and quieter than the stock.I do assume you have installed the stock fan?
I do not think its the Vista disc yet |

Have you installed a cooler and fan of some description on the CPU? If not, the do NOT power on again until that is sorted unless you want to burn up the price of a processor.. |
Re: Help With PC Build
I have installed all the fans that came with it set up.
I just tried a XP Pro disc i have and it didn't work wuth that. Any ideas? Should i take it to a PC shop/ring someone out to fix it? |

you can not install an operating system on one machine then move the hard drive to another it does not work that way. For a start the boot setup could be wrong and if it issnt unless you have the same chipset or similar in both machines it will just crash or be problematic due to chipset driver conflicts |

I did buy the seperate fan, but there is no where for it to go on the case. |

have you gone into bios and set the sata controllers to IDE? it is all in your manual Incidentally the artic cooling freezer 7 pro is a much more efficient cooler than the stock . It spins slower making less noise and the heat pipes transfer the heat generated by the cpu much better. I very rarely use stock coolers |

Up to now all i have done is build the PC and got onto BIOS-have only changed the BOOT option to CD/DVD, all other BIOS settings have not be touched. :erm: I shall, once i have this problem sorted install the other fan :D |
Re: Help With PC Build
as long as you have a fan on the cpu do not worry about it for now. I would leave it for tonight as it is getting late :)

The bios settings in outline Terry.. Yes it's important to set the boot order as you have done, so the system will boot from your OS cd and start installing the system. The other important part of the setup is to get the hard disk settings correct so the system can 'see' a primary boot device. It has to know where to look for the system disk and until that is defined correctly you'll not be able to install windows. |

Re: Help With PC Build
my offer still stands mate i do know what im doing in putting a pc together and installing the windows on, to it just PM me if you want me to take a look for you as i said i live 30mins from liverpool at the most as warrington is close to you.
aslong as you have fitted the cpu heatsink and fan even if it is stock then also changed the boot device so that, the dvd drive is the first boot device and you have connected the hard drives up properly, then it should work if not then you need someone to have a look at it for you if you have not done this before no offence is meant by this either. |
Re: Help With PC Build
OK so i have read the manual and i still don't have ANY idea what to do.
I have built the PC and changed the boot primary thing to CD/DVD. I have not done ANYTHING else to the BIOS, not inserted any other discs or altered any other settings (none at all). |

Re: Help With PC Build
As much as i would like for Damien to help me, many issues arise such as paying, parents allowing a man of the internet into the house etc.
I do thank Damien for the offer though :D So to clarify do i need to change any settings in BIOS for it to boot from the CD/DVD driver-other than setting the boot to CD/DVD? |
