Zingle normally I hit about 8 even 9.2 mb on there, ever since those 20mb trials begun my speeds dropped down to about 6mb maybe 8mb in spurts.

But there are no 20 meg trials on now ?. I am under the impression that everyone is back on 10 meg.

Ssshhh, don't tell ntl you're getting full speed or they'll flick a switch.

I'm on the 10MB and my speeds for the past two days have been painfully slow. This is the result of a speed test done just before posting here 235 kbps down and 479 kbps up.

What's the title of this thread again, Hooray! for NTL 10mb.

You're 'aving a laugh.

That sounds much like my connection. If I go on at about 6am it's fine but 7pm at night and I may as well be on dialup.

An engineer callout resulted in the CATV connector being changed???

I have been told that my cable and UBR is oversubscribed.

I would normally just bin it and get someone else in, but £125 install charge for a BT phone line is on the steep side. Is there anyone in NTL this can be raised to?

speeds tests proove nothing anyway. You need to test with a multi threaded download manager and a good server.

That looks scary.

And to stay on topic... thanks to setting a proxy I can browse normally again now... thought I'd gone back to dial up for a while.

I set mine explicitly to Cardiff 5. works better than the dial-up speeds i was getting, but nowhere near 10meg

1st 512K took 1093 ms = 468.4 KB/sec, approx 3860 Kbps, 3.77 Mbps
2nd 512K took 1079 ms = 474.5 KB/sec, approx 3910 Kbps, 3.82 Mbps
3rd 512K took 1093 ms = 468.4 KB/sec, approx 3860 Kbps, 3.77 Mbps
4th 512K took 1078 ms = 475 KB/sec, approx 3914 Kbps, 3.82 Mbps

Overall Average Speed = approx 3886 Kbps, 3.8 Mbps

believe it or not, the internet is still damn awful otherwise for speed :(
I've tried a few different proxies, but have settled for Edinburgh's 2nd one - seems to be best so far.

In the last couple weeks (started when the 20mb trials where started) my speeds are under 5mb. Now it's strange it started then and now the trials are over it's still there so I just want to know whats going on here?! Ntl, needs to give us answers.
