ok - perhaps I went off an a kind of angry tangent up there. The best thing is for me to see (and hope) that the bill is ok next month and I will seek your assistance then. In light of recent events its not that big a deal I suppose.

I appreciate the offer and apologise

Why wait? The team can find out within a short period of time wether or not your account has been rectified. If it hasn't been dealt with then you can decide to push for further action or you can set the ball in motion to cancel your contract and get a contract with Sky running. At the very least it will give you extra time to sort things out.

Indeed. I think I will see what next months bill looks like anyway though

To someone on another forum, I said...

NTL Broadband 1Mbit / 3Gb @ £9.99 per month for 12 months is a deal worth taking ... for 12 months, then DUMP THEM.

I cannot see how this deal is not going to result in churn from large numbers of ISP tarts, as well as resentment from those taking broadband and more, all at full price.

I would say that at every price point, there is an ADSL deal that is better than NTL broadband, and I'm just about losing patience with the neverending proxy foulups of NTL.

I like the idea of cable, as compared to what seems a very unsound practice of stuffing high frequencies down twisted pair phone lines, but I'm basically into comparing (speed * quota / price) - I'd take a 512k no/large quota ADSL over NTL's 1Mbit any day - currently on the 300k NTL

as far as I know (and I may be wrong adn will stand corrected) there are 3 levels you can be on with an ntl cable modem:
1 meg, 2 meg and 3 meg

if you are on 300k you should reboot or ring in or soemthing to make the speed go up

Maybe he doesn't want to change his speed?

No, 300k is still available to existing customers who were on it before the latest round of speed increases. It is not available to new customers and you cannot go back to it if you upgrade from it.

but i seem to recall I got upgraded from 750k to 2 meg (when I was on that) for no charge

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99

I'm sure this has been done to death in the past, but for newcomers, AFAIK, the 750K was automatically upgraded to 2M, the 1.5M was automatically upgraded to 3M, but anyone on 300K had the choice of remaining on that, with no cap, or upgrading to 1M with a 3GB cap.

Thats right enough, - anywho, is this offer for 12 months?

As I'm moving into anouther house for a few months and want internet, but dont want a 24 month contract.

I don't think NTL do 24 month contracts

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99

You can be forgiven for thinking its a 24 month contract, NTL have done the unthinkable allowed a special offer for duration of contract.

They do for business contracts but not for residential.

Re: ntl 1mb BB at £9.99

Yep! speed issues done to death - the other upgrades were automatic (unless you needed a PACE STB replaced with something that could do 2Mbit) as there was no downside.

Unless NTL plan to completely revise the tariffs, a 12 month deal at a good price, followed by an 80% increase is relying a lot on peoples inertia, and perhaps on fear that a cheap ADSL will not be as good ... if it was like mobile deals, it would be a 12 month special price with an 18 month tie-in ... oops, don't want to give them ideas!

A lot can change in 12 months - and probably will!
