I can't see Sky letting NTL have something that will let them have an advantage though..

Would love to see TCM have their moves on VOD

At the moment to see an 18 rated film outside of normal hours, you need to use your TV PIN. Presumably it will be the same for the VOD version.

What's it got to do with Sky?

well if we wanted the movies that sky have on Sky Box Office and the movie channels don't they own the rights to them ?

Aparently the VOD rights for things like movies are sold separately from the pay TV rights, so it's possible that ODG will be able to show the same films that are on Sky Movies.

As always though, we'll have to wait and see.

Are they anything to do with OD2 (which actually stands for OnDemand2) who provide music stores for HMV, Wanadoo, Virgin et al?

Edit: Strike that. Looks like they are not.

But Front Row *already* shows films that are on Sky Box Office....

Whether they'll be allowed to show films that are currently on Sky Movies is another matter, but, as I said before, VOD rights are generally sold separetely from Pay-TV rights, so this might not be a problem.

A quick scan of their website suggests not.

good news then potentially we can have more content then :D

i guess we just need to wait for an annoucement from NTL..

i just think it's great that we can even talk about a VOD service on NTL and hopefully later on this year PVR as well... they really are starting to move forward now even if the current service isn't perfect they are making things better and offering more services to us

El Reg is a bit behind the times!

Mind you, it does appear to be a good summary of the competing products.

Glasgow is Langley, not Bromley as mentioned by Paul11974.

Don't think so-Glasgow is trialling it, so it's not a "roll out" as such.

[Edit]-Have you actually read through this thread Paul? :erm:
