Two bad decisions turned the game, firstly Stokes/Buttler using DRS when they both knew Stokes had hit it, then the appalling LBW against Curran who had no appeal left.

Re: English Cricket

The still young Lancashire batsman Haseeb Hameed scores his first ‘first class’ century since 2016 following a double hundred in a warm up game last week. Let’s just hope for his, Lancashire and England’s sake that he has turned a corner and come through his past two seasons of purgatory. In some ways it mirrors the mistakes made in Jimmy Andersons early career when people who thought they knew better tried to mess with Andersons unusual action.

Apparently Hameed has spent two years trying to hit the ball harder to make progress in the white ball game to the detriment of his natural technique.

Things are going much better at the other Old Trafford where I am also a member. Young Lancashire (and England) bowler Saqib Mahmood has put two seasons of injury problems behind him and is knocking them over for fun. 6 for 37 against Northants last week and 5 for 14 today as they skittled the Foxes for 80 all out.:)

Actually they do have a decent cricket team and a very nice ground. Often used as an ‘out ground’ for the odd Lancashire championship matches.

And I can personally vouch for the pies at United, very tasty indeed.

And I’m not sure how the Liverpool supporters have time to test the pies at OT, they’re usually to busy smashing up the toilets.:(

The scores are starting to get a bit silly in 50 over cricket. No longer an even contest between bat and ball. Rule changes have all been in the batsmens favour. Just an extended 20/20 slogfest.

Geoffrey Boycott knew how to build a proper one day innings ;)

Didn’t actually see any of it. In the middle of a major refurb of the whole back garden.Nearly finished a 3 by 4.8 metre decking area that will have a summer house in the corner when it arrives. Then rotavating , several tons of topsoil and re turfing the main area.

A wake up call for sure, better now than in the semis or finals.

Nice :) Some of it has been on Sky Sports Mix anyway, the rest mostly rained off ! Cricket has slowly realised that money isn't everything, with a new version of the game coming to the BBC as well.

That would be warmly greeted by FTA viewers but one has to be wary that there ain't a catch somewhere along the line.

Watching the West Indies v New Zealand from Old Trafford, noticing the good crowd/wicket and thinking back to the England v Afghanistan match there as well, it makes me wonder why we bother to play games at Headingly. Turgid pitch, poor crowd even for an England game it wasn’t sold out. Miserable Yorkies don’t deserve any games.
