Red Bull will quit F1 if they don't get a competitive engine in 2016.

Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
From what I heard, but I had only one ear on it, if they don't have one before the start of 2016 season they will pull out before the season starts. So that is 2 less teams, 4 drivers seeking seats, and £300m a year lost to the sport. Good riddance to whingers. Funny how whilst winning they had no complaints but now it is someone else winning they are whinging.

I think if Volkswagen move into F1 then they will pick Audi as their branding as it would be pointless going with Bugatti or Bentley etc as normal people would not rush out and buy 1 based on the sponsor.

Excellent News on both counts in my opinion.

Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
I'm pleased. I did hear whispers that Alonso was thinking about packing it in after that concussion injury this year. And to be honest, don't think many people would have blamed him for retiring. Just hope the McLaren cars are more competitive next season.

Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
The funny thing is that rumours where rife about JB retiring, then its switched to FA.
|
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Honda need to screw a lot more horsepower out of their lump, or did someone say it was the ERS deployment that was the main issue.
Was a mistake bringing that system in anyway, they want more teams, so making the engines more expensive with that extra system was a truly inspired idea (NOT). |

I think he will get something, it did look like his mistake.
|
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Kimi has robbed someone of a Podium there. 30 seconds is crap. Perez gets the podium despite being passed by Bottas and Kimi. Horrible stuff.
|
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
It also means Mercedes seal the constructors title because of this.
Bad error by Kimi but mistakes do happy. |
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Kimi hasn't got it anymore, he's forever doing silly stuff now it's like watching Schumacher on his awful return all over again.

Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Sadly some don't realise when they are past it as things move on very quickly in many sports.
|
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
I wonder how long it'll take for McLaren to actually recover. They've been in a downward spiral for years now and it's just getting even more ridiculous as it goes along. Hamilton dragged that heap of a car to some good finishes and made it look like they were still competitive but the reality is it's been utter crap for a fair few years Hamilton was still there. Their failure rate was likely one of the real reasons Hamilton abandoned ship.
Honda won't solve anything. Maybe they can supply an engine to Red Bull given their constantly whinging about something. They've well and truly alienated Renault. |

Waiting for US Qualifying to start, 2 hour delay so far due to rain :(
Qualifying could happen tomorrow a 2pm GMT, failing that 3 practice times will be used, Ham would be on pole, Vet 2nd, Ros about 9th |
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Qualifying cancelled and they hope to run it on Sunday at 2pm GMT.
|
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Qualifying ends early because of rain which puts Rosberg on pole, Hamilton 2nd, Ricciardo 3rd, Vettel 5th.
Race due to start at 19:00 GMT. |
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Hopefully the race goes ahead without a constant SC, I enjoy a rainy day race, it shakes it up a bit and always produces something.

Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Alonso out after a lap, McLaren are in serious trouble here. Rosberg would be a world champion on the car alone had there not been a better driver sat in the other car. Unfortunately there is a far superior driver. Nico's cracks will only widen. Chance to get another Alonso/Hamilton dummy spat.
Hamilton is in cruise control, no excuse for a non Rosberg win here. Hamilton probably content with a podium. Both Mercs just casually pulling away. Hamilton isn't challenging him, consolation prizes for Rosberg until the end of the season I guess. |
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Mercedes will want a 1 and 2 standing at the end of the season so you can bet they have asked Hamilton to let Rosberg get enough points to make sure that Vettal does take 2nd in the standings at the end.
|
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Kimi on an amazing drive just explodes again with madness. I have no idea where he expected Bottas to go there, he had nowhere to go but into him.
Should've just stayed away Kimi. No further action, good decision, Bottas is still in it, Kimi lost out for that. Fair all round. Mercedes 1-2 bar any mistakes or accidents here, can feel the lack of effort even trying to catch them. |
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Was Hamilton robbed?
|
Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Robbed, nah, I can't imagine there'd be many complaints over Mercedes doing whatever they could to give Nico something to cheer about. I assume we're referring to the fact Hamilton didn't need to pit but was ordered to do so anyway.

Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
I am not a fan of teams calling the strategy I think it should be the driver.

Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
If it was precautionary (as they had oodles of time on the 3rd place runner), then it's only fair to do it for both.

Re: Formula 1 2015 Season thread
Nico won the race with a little help from his friends. Merc made sure Nico won by getting hamilton to stay out longer than he should, Nico was running almost 2 seconds faster than Hamilton after his pit stop but the pit wall told Hamilton to stay out until it was almost impossible for Ham to catch Nico. Similat thing happened in 2 previous races to make sure Nico finished 2nd in the Championship.
