Looks like they've left a space for Sky Sports 5 SD on 506 and HD will be on 516.
I'm guessing Sky Sports News HD will go on 511 and Sky News HD will go on 603? Whenever they decide to launch them.

The Sky basics are now available to stream on the TV Anywhere App.

Great we've got SS HD channels. Really great. Chuffed to bits. Brilliant!

But that channel numbering. Ugh.

I have to agree with neilo....

Great we've got them... utterly BIZARRE SS numbering... who the hell signed off on that????

MalteseFalcon 15-07-2014 10:33

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3

Yeah, bit stupid. But once I get used to it, it won't bother me. Tried 511 this morning and got rather cross when it wouldn't switch. Then I remembered they had swapped numbers around. And I did a loud Homer Simpson impression. All together now: D'OH.

A drink this early?? Well if everyone else is i might as well...

I dont mind the numbering ill get used to it!

Now everyone what shall we obsess over next?? i want sky sports news in HD! and im angry its not coming till 2015. so time to be ungrateful and start getting angry.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3

the new numbering would have been good, if they set the new HD channels to start with 511 as SS1, that way people just automatically start using the HD channels. I think this may have been the idea, but the excution was off

thunderlips 15-07-2014 11:06

very happy for sports fans ! ss 12345 hd and season ticket on offer ! what about people who enjoy movies ? cant see any offers !

vincerooney 15-07-2014 11:08

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3

The offer still confuses me to be honest. I have to pay 150 quid up front which will mean i wont be able to engage in shenanigans paying that much up front. I get sky sports for 10 months but i still need to pay £10 p/m? I'd need to become a nun for one month paying it all.

I thought all boxes were HD as standard??

But obviously depending on your package depends which HD channels you have access to.

Like people have said before, its only the channel numbers, so it doesnt matter if SD or HD channel is positioned first on the EPG. They should push the HD channels first really, we are in 2014 after all.

Netflix bundled in?
More HD channels?
Any possibility of Sky 3D? I know not many people might be keen on this

I understand money and pricing could be a reason behind SA not coming, but would people really leave Sky for VM based on one channel offering? I'm amazed if this was the case....(I don't want to start a SA riot lol )

What about the football, don't they broadcast that in 3D still?

Yes, Netflix in a bundle with perhaps other streaming services. Would like one of them to be Amazon First (Lovefilm) but I think that may still be a way off yet.

An "ideal" scenario for Netflex would be (a) free bundled for VIP package, (b) £2/month for XL subscribers, (c) £4/month for L subscribers, (d) £5.99/month the M+ subscribers, or something lke this, i.e. the higher package you buy the cheaper it is to add Netflix.

Yes, that would be sensible, but the ultimate goal should be a range of streaming services in a bundle. Inevitably, some of these would be subscription based and others PPV.

I would say this is perfect, but then I do have the VIP pack :D
Even £2 a month for Netflix is a good price really.

Aye but remember guys VIP package doesnt get exclusive offers like this. You just get everything VM provide you don't get extras. I remember people being convinced that VM would give BT Sport to VIP customers for free and i kept saying "VIP doesnt get extras, you just get everything they offer".

If Netflix is going to be free it'll be in the big kahuna + packages

does VIP even exist anymore anyway?

You cant signup for it but I am still on the VIP package, when I rang it wasnt worth swapping over to the big daddy package.

So?? In any case you could have stuck SSN on 500 and still keep the main sports channels in the logical order of having Sky Sports 1 on channel 501. Common sense, something which is lacking here.

Very poor decision, but at least I know who made it now....

Take more of the shows you love,
to bed.
Great news!
All Sky channels available through Virgin Media have now been enabled for multi-room streaming.

Meaning Virgin Media TiVo® customers can now stream all 37 Sky channels on up to six TiVo® boxes in the home.

Want to hit the sack, but you don't want to miss the finale of the epic Sky series you started watching on the sofa?

With multi-room streaming through TiVo, that's no problem. Just record the show, then pick up where you left off once you're tucked up in bed.

Everyone gets to watch what they want, when they want.

Please note: Some customers may find they need to reboot their TiVo box before this feature becomes available.

Find out more about multi-room streaming.

Be great if it worked without you having to wire all your house up! Give us a wireless dongle like Sky do to their customers.

As we're all anonymous on here...does anyone here ACTUALLY 'use' these Adult channels???

I mean...aren't they a bit pointless when u can just flick your laptop on and actually see the 'proper' stuff for free... lol :p:

Seems like a total waste of time VM having these at all.

Never 'used' an adult channel, like you said it's available for free via other methods if you so need.

Yeah that's a good point, Vince. Its only the TV packages that the extra incentives, not the actual collection or bundle itself. That would mean if it were to happen, free Netflix would be on TV XL.

For me, I'd rather not see them at all. Especially as they have place holder pictures which although no where near hardcore are a bit salacious.

I can't imagine for the life of me that VM make much money on them being there.

I agree. But replacing SD channels with HD ones is not the solution.

Unless of course they changed their policy. Although it is always wise to look to the past and the present to predict the future, we should never rule out fundamental change.

There is absolutely nothing that I can see that would prevent VM from offering streaming services free or at a greatly reduced price on the top package to encourage viewers to pay top whack. However, by excluding that package from other viewers on lower packages, the attraction of the wholesale deal to the likes of Netflix would be diminished. That would have consequences for any deal made with VM.

This is very possible, because, of course VM want us all paying the most amount of money possible ;)

I actually have the 'Hide Adult Channels' setting on since they're just a waste of time when you're trying to flick by the movie channels to get to the sports channels.

Re: Coming Soon to Virgin TV (2014) Vol. 3

I did also notice from the EPG shuffle, that VM have tried to group some channel's SD, +1 and HD versions together. This is also a good move in my opinion. Keeps everything nice and tidy on the EPG for those with an OCD for all things logical ;-)

saw this on VM Forum

"With so much great content joining our line up. You may have noticed a few channels have moved around.

They’ll take some getting used to so to avoid button bashing there’s a quick update below.

The good news is…

This won’t affect your planned recordings, series links or WishLists – so there’s no need to panic"

http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/...p/td-p/2390829

They have a list of the channels that have moved, but they are in the most random order ever just to confuse us!!! NOT VERY LOGICAL AT ALL haha
