There was a link to the app earlier in this thread that let you install it on a kindle fire hd. I'm using it on mine.

Mind you i have a tivo and not sure if the streaming works if you haven't got one?

You can't even sign into the app if you haven't got TiVo

No, it is exactly that app. However as has been said from the start, and is exactly the same for the iOS version, it's only available if you have TiVo

For customers without TiVo, you can use the web version of TV Anywhere only

Ahh thanks. Can you explain how this is done on Android please?

It's not, same as it's not on iOS either.

You need Flash 11.4 or above on a PC running Windows (not Windows RT) or a Mac to be able to use the web version of TV Anywhere

Ok, thanks for the update Ben.

I was just wondering as I recently bought a Now TV box and been using that with the Now TV iOS apps and thought it was a great service. It got me thinking that the VM TV Anywhere app would be a great app if it offered the same VOD content as you can get via the web version.

The 4.4.2 update for Android is rolling out now, my Nexus 4 received the update last night.

I trust when the app is updated for the base version of 4.4, it will work on 4.4.2 ......right?

Old news but,
One of my tivos was at 87%, I'd watched most of the shows on my other boxes so was quite chuffed when I found out that pressing edit and ticking each show, I deleted 67 shows in one go without going to the tivo.

Re: TV Anywhere Android App

The most annoying issue with the app is that if you choose a time other than 'now' in the guide, drill-down to look at a particular programme and then go back, it resets the time to now, not whatever time you were at before. Hugely annoying.

Sometimes it also refuses to exit and if you leave it in the background it sometimes then won't reconnect return to it and refuses to exit as well.

Enter "com.virginmedia.tvanywhere" (with out the quotes) and click "Generate Download Link"

You will need to enable "Unknown sources" in Settings -> Security.

Use a file manager app, like Astro. I did yesterday to install a game that I downloaded for Android. Works brilliantly.

Hi all

Does anyone know if VM have updated the app to stop it installing on unsupported devices?

I got a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas and download the app from the list earlier in this thread and it installed and worked perfectly.

However my 5 year old daughter managed to factory reset my Kindle while playing with it last week, and having gone to the same link and downloaded the file again, the Kindle says "can't open file" when I try to install it now?

Has anyone managed to do this recently, or if it's been protected, does anyone still have the old .apk they would be prepared to share?

Thanks in advance for any help

T

---------- Post added at 11:50 ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 ----------

Hmmm weird,

Downloaded a file manager app as suggested on last page and managed to install it fine and its working perfectly again.

Definitely didn't have to use one last time, so I'm sure something has changed, however problem solved for now.

Thanks
T

Kitkat update for TV Anywhere has gone live today.

Had a quick look and it's not too bad and can confirm video streaming works on the Nexus 5 running 4.4.2 although I don't believe the device list has been updated yet on VM website.

I had a feeling VM were going to come through with the goods once the new wave of premium phones hit the market

I registered mine as a phone, this was before it was updated to support KITKAT . When I go to a streaming channel and select watch, it gives the option to watch on TV or watch on phone. I select watch on phone and as my last post confirmed in landscape.

I'd check if you are able to make changes as it will advise if you have any left this month

I was hoping someone could tell me what they are watching that is only in portrait. My nexus 7 shows the streaming in landscape but mostly it only offers me the option to watch on my tv - which i would as i am sitting in front of it with the blasted device.
Everything else works in landscape - Netflix - Sky Go - Flixter - Youtube - iPlayer - Any films i watch through Poweramp or Archos Video.

Is there ever going to be a time when you can watch recordings on the app? And if you only have 1 tivo box in the house (with 2 other V+ boxes) is there any point in connecting the Tivo to the home network via the router?

What does connecting the Tivo box with an ethernet cable actually do?

BenMcr 07-03-2014 16:51

Re: TV Anywhere Android App

Currently TiVo would require extra hardware to watch recordings directly from the box.

So the TiVo connected allows you to use the app as a remote control

Re: TV Anywhere Android App

I too am annoyed with the Nexus 7 only in portrait for menus and the like, streaming is in landscape. The reason I've been given is a choice that 7" and below are phones therefore the app only works in portrait, above that the app will work in landscape if you hold the device that way.

Please note that I don't work in the app division so for the purpose of this thread I am just "a user".

It's supported KitKat since the end of Feburary, so that's a little late ;)

I've installed in on my HTC One X+ and it's working fine. :woot:

When the app first came out I installed from the apk file and it wouldn't let the phone sleep/screen off after the set time. Phone sleeps happily now.

I'm not connected to my home network so I'll have test the streaming later.

You don't have to be on your home network for streaming. Surely that would defeat the purpose of Away mode?

So it is restricted to wifi? Why do companies do that? If people have a fast mobile connection and the data allowance needed then it should not matter.

Content providers count WiFi streaming and Mobile streaming as two different things, and want separate contracts for both.

Didn't realize the tab 3 had been added, I installed the .apk when the android version was released has always worked to manage my TiVo but not to stream.

So does this latest news mean we will be able to watch Sky Sports and Movies via the ipad Virgin Anywhere app? Fantastic news if that's the case :)

That is certainly the implication, presumeably alongside the other Sky channels (excluding Atlantic).
