Re: TV Anywhere Android App
It's not, same as it's not on iOS either.
You need Flash 11.4 or above on a PC running Windows (not Windows RT) or a Mac to be able to use the web version of TV Anywhere |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Ben, is there any plans to add access to VOD content via the iOS/Android apps at any stage?
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
I think it was mentioned when the iOS app was launched, but no info on when/how it will be done

I was just wondering as I recently bought a Now TV box and been using that with the Now TV iOS apps and thought it was a great service. It got me thinking that the VM TV Anywhere app would be a great app if it offered the same VOD content as you can get via the web version. |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
The 4.4.2 update for Android is rolling out now, my Nexus 4 received the update last night.
I trust when the app is updated for the base version of 4.4, it will work on 4.4.2 ......right? |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Still nothing for 4.4 then, not working that hard on it.
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Well there is nothing released. Doesn't mean the guys in the testing team aren't working on it.
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
4.5 will probably be out before it ;)
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
I do not think that at all.

Old news but,
One of my tivos was at 87%, I'd watched most of the shows on my other boxes so was quite chuffed when I found out that pressing edit and ticking each show, I deleted 67 shows in one go without going to the tivo. |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
The most annoying issue with the app is that if you choose a time other than 'now' in the guide, drill-down to look at a particular programme and then go back, it resets the time to now, not whatever time you were at before. Hugely annoying.
Sometimes it also refuses to exit and if you leave it in the background it sometimes then won't reconnect return to it and refuses to exit as well. |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
The most annoying thing about the app for me is you still can't watch Sky Movies or Sky Sports on ipad :(

Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Just noticed that the release date of the app on the Play Store has changed to the 7th January, yet it isn't showing as an update!
Not sure if anything has changed as there is no 'What's New' section for the app. |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Is there any news on this working properly on KitKat?
I can set series links and record but when i try to watch something the app crashes. |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Not heard anything, I did ask on the VM support forums earlier today as it's been 2 months now and nothing has been added to the device list afaik.

I take it when you access the app on google play store and it's says 'this device is not yet supported' means you can't download it? I wanted to download on my new Moto G phone. Successfully downloaded on Kindle Fire HD but not the Moto G.

Morning all just downloaded and installed the app as Mr K advised great thanks and it works........well to a point. Is it because I have Kit Kat 4.4.2 on my Nexus 7 that I keep getting the message tvanywhere app has stopped working when I try to stream a channel? I know it's not supported....yet but I've managed to set a recording for the 6 Nations Wales-Italy game no problem.

Both, but the Astro file manager is so easy to use. It's like using Explorer in Windows, but on a smaller scale (phone that is).

Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Hi all
Does anyone know if VM have updated the app to stop it installing on unsupported devices? I got a Kindle Fire HD for Christmas and download the app from the list earlier in this thread and it installed and worked perfectly. However my 5 year old daughter managed to factory reset my Kindle while playing with it last week, and having gone to the same link and downloaded the file again, the Kindle says "can't open file" when I try to install it now? Has anyone managed to do this recently, or if it's been protected, does anyone still have the old .apk they would be prepared to share? Thanks in advance for any help T ---------- Post added at 11:50 ---------- Previous post was at 11:32 ---------- Hmmm weird, Downloaded a file manager app as suggested on last page and managed to install it fine and its working perfectly again. Definitely didn't have to use one last time, so I'm sure something has changed, however problem solved for now. Thanks T |

Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Kitkat update for TV Anywhere has gone live today.
Had a quick look and it's not too bad and can confirm video streaming works on the Nexus 5 running 4.4.2 although I don't believe the device list has been updated yet on VM website. I had a feeling VM were going to come through with the goods once the new wave of premium phones hit the market |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Can also confirm it works on my Nexus 7 running 4.4.2
---------- Post added at 21:29 ---------- Previous post was at 21:07 ---------- Though it still seems to remain in Portrait mode until streaming is selected then it goes to Landscape |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
I`ve registered my galaxy tab3 as a second device and the picture quality is ok but I`ve got no sound. All volume settings are set to full. Volume is ok on the tab cause youtube and music that I`ve got play ok Has anyone got any ideas
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Works on my nexus 7 . Only had a little play cannot see On Demand stuff but it looks ok so far.
---------- Post added 26-02-2014 at 01:05 ---------- Previous post was 25-02-2014 at 23:22 ---------- I take it back i cannot work out how to watch things on my nexus 7 it just makes me watch everything on the tv. For some reason i was fascinated with the ability to pause live tv from my tablet which was right next to my actual remote control - genius! |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Yes just checked on my NEXUS 7 with KITKAT 4.4.2 and it's working fine better late than never eh Virgin
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Is yours stuck in portrait mode though unlike the images shown on Google play?
Only time it goes into landscape is when streaming is active. |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Can anyone answer this? When i was playing with the app last night i wanted to watch certain things but it only gave me the option to watch them on the television. Is this correct or is there a setting i need to change? Or is it just selected channels you can watch live?

The channels that are able to be streamed have a little wifi logo next to them, or you can filter by these in the settings page. |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
They are not the best channels then :( still with the sky go app i am pretty much covered. Not that i go out that often but it's nice to know it works now.
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Is it just me, or can't you watch any channels unless your TiVo box and your device is connected to the same network?
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
I've got a Asus HD Tab and it's not supported, despite it being on 4.2.something.

Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Just updated the app on my nexus 4, at last! :)
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Apparently tablets 7" or under are classed as phones so won't display in landscape unless streaming.. Crazy
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Am I right, or have I missed something?
|
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
I've got a NEXUS 7 tablet and it gets no problem displaying in landscape. Watching Napoli vs Swans atm. No doubt some of the more techy people on here will come up with screen sizes etc. It does ask when I click watch if you want watch on phone.

Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Nope - the up to 67 you can stream have an icon next to them, and can also be selected via the 'Streaming Channels' selection (via the settings on the phone version of the app)
The list is also here http://store.virginmedia.com/discove...app/watch.html |

Re: TV Anywhere Android App
I was hoping someone could tell me what they are watching that is only in portrait. My nexus 7 shows the streaming in landscape but mostly it only offers me the option to watch on my tv - which i would as i am sitting in front of it with the blasted device.
Everything else works in landscape - Netflix - Sky Go - Flixter - Youtube - iPlayer - Any films i watch through Poweramp or Archos Video. What are people trying to watch that only work with portrait? :) |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Any screens in the app apart from the stream

Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Is there ever going to be a time when you can watch recordings on the app? And if you only have 1 tivo box in the house (with 2 other V+ boxes) is there any point in connecting the Tivo to the home network via the router?
What does connecting the Tivo box with an ethernet cable actually do? |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
Currently TiVo would require extra hardware to watch recordings directly from the box.
So the TiVo connected allows you to use the app as a remote control |
Re: TV Anywhere Android App
I too am annoyed with the Nexus 7 only in portrait for menus and the like, streaming is in landscape. The reason I've been given is a choice that 7" and below are phones therefore the app only works in portrait, above that the app will work in landscape if you hold the device that way.
Please note that I don't work in the app division so for the purpose of this thread I am just "a user". |
