what should I expect with the training and then the shadowing the engineer ?

I'm in the Birmingham area.

I know the pay wont be good for the first few months but what's everyone's opinions ?

Kelly@s rang me today regarding the same job as an Overhead linesman.

ive installed aerials and satellites and worked for AVC and Fujitsu on the Virgin contract. But not sure what to expect about this position.

Re: New Member Introductions

Hi everyone, just been reading a lot of posts, I've been BT poling for over 17 years for contractors never for BT, I've been trained and accredited in all aspects of poling, cabling, d side plus e side etc of BT works, I'm a accredited BT planner etc, the trouble is if I worked for BT I'd never get half the jobs I'd been given done but I have by different methods, all to FEQ rules. I'd never work for mj quins but I have for Kelly's,
I can't understand why someone who is already trained to BT standards is needed to complete a Kelly's course then get charged for something that they already know, when I left, I got deducted monies for training purposes for training...............
I still work on the BT network for poling if interested contact me on foxey33@hotmail.co.uk

Wow congratulations to anyone who has been successful, recieved my contract offer this week after a call to confirm I had been offered an 18 month contract.

Im ex BT Retail and looking forward to joining OR and carve out a career.

Anyone starting 3rd November in Stone Yarnfield, been there for a H&S course and plan to stay over even though I live kind of local.

To anyone who wasnt successful or on a waiting list dont give up.

Yep happened to me. Got a date for an interview with only 4 days notice. . Then an email to say that as my apt test result was not in the highest I was on a waiting list. Then an email to say it was a mistake. By this time id remembrred why I jacked bt in after over 20 years and didnt bother going.

Hello all ,

I have been working for Kelly's for a few months now and can tell you its a joke . However the good news is i have gone through the first stages of the BT OR interview process ie: sent cv ,had a phone call ,sent the online test and invited for an interview.Had the interview and have been told would hear in up to 4 weeks.Being inpatient {or just desperate to get away from Kellys}emailed BT got reply saying that i had met the the standard they were looking for and they would be checking all the paperwork to see which role i would be suitable for.Has anyone else been through this recently and what happens next and do i actually have a new job lol

I have question , it seems to me that these contractors they hire on the in house , but paid as a sub, is it possible that you set up your own company ,LLC etc and pay your own business insurance etc. and get hired as a real subcontractor and pay your own taxes. Thanks

Well I'd say it sounds good for you. BT have just announced they're taking on another 500 engineers this year. That's in addition to the 2000 odd they've already taken on this year. At this rate they won't need Kelly's soon so I hope you do get in.
