Depends what you mean by "old age" - I had no major health issues until last year, when I needed a Total Knee Replacement; other than that, I am (besides being about a stone over my optimum weight) fairly healthy at 69, and some of the benefits of being older are the joys of retirement and grandchildren.

It’s (imho) important not to be grumpy, negative, and just focusing on the "bad" things that happen - that’ll age you faster than Melania Trump coming of the Botox injections.

Apart from various parts of the body deciding to be awkward at times, being old is really just a state of mind.

Having said that, there are a few rare occasions when the mind goes on a little walkabout on it's own, leaving you standing in the kitchen wondering why you went there in the first place . . . :D

I plan on placing them on my window ledge Infront of an open window to draw in cool air at night. Humidity is torture. London tube on a hot Friday is torture. :no:

From tonight, we should be getting consistent 10°C and above at night, so I have started hardening-off my toms and cucs.

They got a bit floppy due to this afternoon's wind though.

Funny you say that. I had to call an engineer out yesterday because my home wasn't heating up in the morning when it was pretty cold after leaving my windows open all night. He done something with the boiler and adjusted all the radiators. Everyone seems to have their own opinion on setup. He said leave the boiler set to 50 increase by 10 in a cold snap and set thermostat temperature to 18. I'm apparently losing loads of heat. Surveyors came two three months ago to assess wall temperatures, damp, heat loss in windows. The guy said government funding is coming in so they will most likely insulate walls, change windows, and look to make other preventive heat loss :shrug:

Sounds like your walls are not insulated well.

I've no idea how good my walls are, the house is maybe 28 years old so can't be that modern and I saw them build it and they had some kind of yellow insulation between the outside and internal walls.

I leave my boiler set to 60 and I haven't had any issues with the house temps and as you know I turn the heating off between 10pm and 5.30am because I'm in bed so it's not needed.

I'm hoping to keep the heating permanently off now until it's needed again in October.

In NW London for a week or so, and the next 2 days are forecast to be 33C (92F) (and between 25-29C until Sunday) - thank heavens my son & his partner's house has air-con...

My son lives here now, with his partner and child - we were looking after the four month old for four nights and five days while they had a nice couple of days away in Wales, so there wasn't much chance to "hit the town" (or sleep... :D ).

I've just been checking back on weather reports and the follow ups.
It seems that the predictions (guesses) of the experts and their computer modeling forecasts were a little . . erm . . err . . wrong.

The grass is now getting so tall I'm wary about going into the garden in case I'm suddenly surrounded by wildebeest . . . or lions :shocked:

my bedroom is south facing and the wall is solid , no cavity once the wall heats up it stays warm, the wall is quite warm to the touch, fans just circulate hot air so i got air con

We have large west facing windows upstairs and down, with cavity wall and loft insulation . . . which is nice but seems to stop the heat getting out . . there's a shock :D
