Only workaround I have found is by turning the phone sideways (landscape), clicking the rep icon and pinch zooming until the rep box takes up 75% of the screen, reposition the input box to the top if the screen and then clicking in it. Keyboard comes up in landscape mode and sometimes can see what im typing, sometimes can't. Fiddly workaround but it works for me. Using Maxthon browser and Thumb Keyboard so not sure if they make any difference either.

Not free but cheap enough and has what you want: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...orld.cert.fire

Not sure if it is a UK specific or american based app or if there are any differences between countries and regulations. Keep that in mind though.

cheers mate. i was holding down the rep icon and opening new page to apply rep as a work around. rotation worked but widescreen and additional textbox appearing sucks.

Its like the keyboard appearing knocks out the rep input box, very strange as they shouldn't interact in any way. The new tab/page way you was doing it actually might be easier

Can any of you recommend a decent backup app that can restore to a different device?

My daughter's nexus has got a crack on the screen but she's got a fair bit of stuff on it. I can still install to it but about one third of the screen isn't usable so she can't play any games. I intend to get her a new one and at a later date I'll see about repairing the current one for my own use.

Tegra optimised but doesn't work on a galaxy S3 which is one of the most popular tegra 3 devices.

Oh you are right, my bad! Have seen something about Tegra 3 optimised games running on the s3 before so got a bit confused (and its late).

Although the casual user doesn't notice, the Play market does offer different versions of games based on the graphics chip of the phone. This game doesn't show up if I seach for it on my phone as there isn't a version for it. It does show up for me when logged in with a PC browser though.

They should really fix that like they should with carrier specific and language specific apps. I doubt its that hard to set a couple of filters.

I did read somewhere that the memory used in early N7's was very cheap and some devices are having issues, whether or not the added TRIM support will help those early adopters is yet to be seen.
Mine is just a few day away from its first birthday & I don't know if the memory installed in my device is one of the affected ones.

When it updated to the Webkit version on mine, on the start page, there was a shortcut called legacy bookmarks that had my bookmarks in.

if ur looking for a good budget phone i can recommend this.....

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/st...oductId=960536

The only downside is u only have around 850mb to use for apps out of the 4gb but if u have an SD card its fine. I loadsed all my Apps and done all the app updates on phone and i still have 575mb free which is more than ample for me with a 16GB card.

The Carphone warehouse wanted £149 for the same phone locked to orange and this one for £100 in Argos is sim free and u get a choice of free sims from any network.

You can trick it and go to the SHARE button and share with email, then it gives you the link, without actually sending the email.

You'll be fine Maggy, to the user there are just a few subtle interface changes and some new pre-loaded apps.

One major annoyance has been addressed which is the unlock keypad if you use a pin: The emergency call button has been moved above the number pad away from the enter button.

I forgot to mention that this is on sim free phone so not sure if the telcos have pushed out their updates yet.

#cobby I thought that 4.3 had been out in the US since September on some networks, surprised that Verizon haven't joined the party.

Samsung really quite badly need to de-crap their software, they're one of the last who still throw the kitchen sink and more on their phones, while pretty much everyone else has now gone the other way and now stay close to stock android. All that extra tatt adds to the complexity of doing an upgrade with more chance of it being borked

Every version of Android has been named after a snack or desert and in alphabetical order starting with D.

Donut (1.5)
Cupcake (1.6)
Eclair (2.0 - 2.1)
Froyo (2.2 - 2.2.3)
Gingerbread (2.3 - 2.3.7)
Honeycomb (3.0 - 3.2.6)
Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0 - 4.0.4)
Jelly Bean (4.1 - 4.3)
Kit Kat (4.4)

4.4 is the first to use an actual branded snack and probably not the last but was originally to be called Key Lime Pie. Wonder what L will be called?

I am using 4.4 on my nexus 4, tbh I was quite disappointed in some parts of it, for example some of the new icons look horrendous like the settings icon. It looks like it has been pulled straight from touchwiz.
The lack of transparent bars annoyed me aswell however a beta version of nova launcher soon sorted that.
Nexus 7 2012 is still running 4.3 aokp. Don't think I will bother flashing everything back to stock for 4.4 and will just wait for aokp to start putting out 4.4 builds.

I've updated to 4.4 on my nexus 4 also, the launcher doesn't bother me as I use GO Launcher. Weird. Vodafone were the first network to release 4.3 for the S3, and that actually came out some weeks before the unbranded version.

Why not take it back to the previous version?

Due the security added by Samsung for 'KNOX', it's not that easy to do. There is a warning when you upgrade to say it's not possible to downgrade again.

I thought KNOX was only causing problems for users wanting to root their phones?

I'm sure I read somewhere that it was possible to successfully flash the S3 back to stock.

I cannot do that as i have a stock version of the software which is needed for testing certain apps which involves streaming. Certain streaming apps can detect a modified phone and will not allow you to stream.

A previous stock firmware is not a modification.

It is - I did it the other day. Just be 100% sure you have the right firmware as some people are finding their IMEIs are messed up and need resetting.

Kitkat 4.4.2 just released ota wifi only until 15.12.2013 for Nexus 4,5&7

Seems 4.4.1 was a bit buggy so most will miss 4.4.1 and go straight to 4.4.2.

Just updated my n7 to 4.4.2 no visable changes and apparently still buggy.

4.4.2 fine here on my Nexus 7 (original) - only hassle was having to root it again.

Exchange bug is still there for some (maybe app specific??) Bluetooth and video playback issues also for some.
For me its video playback, what used to be smooth is now jittery, same source, same app, worse quality, unwatchable.

Anyone tried the CM 11 4.4 Rom? I can see Nightly builds but no stable version via OTA. Stable one is still likely a mile away then, rather a question of whether CM 11 is actually usable?

I'm yet to get 4.4 - I bought the Galaxy Mega and really regretted doing soon, shoulda waiting for the HTC One or the One Max. I doubt the Mega will get 4.4 as its not a "primary" handset.
