Tomko will NOT be joining the WWE after all as he reappear on the August 25th taping of TNA iMPACT! (To be shown on Bravo this Saturday.)

As appears on http://xwt-forums.net/1/viewtopic.php?t=17830

Quote:

WrestleZone.com wrote:
PWInsider.com has confirmed that Gail Kim is indeed through with TNA. No details yet regarding this sudden news, but they should be coming out soon.

Kim's profile and photos were quietly removed from the company website earlier today. Regarding the speculation on the removal of her stuff from the website, one TNA source said, "It means exactly what you think it means."

Kim had been with the company for nearly three years - since September 2005. Kim was originally brought in as a pesky heel valet for Jeff Jarrett and America's Most Wanted. When the Knockouts division was created, Kim was pegged as the star babyface. Kim became the first ever TNA Women's Knockout Champion and had a good feud with Awesome Kong. Kim lost the belt on an episode of Impact in January and the focus of the division shifted to some of the other girls. As of late she was a top face in the company, but no longer the top face, sharing the spotlight with Taylor Wilde and ODB.
Quote:

PWMania.com wrote:
In a peculiar deal, Gail Kim's profile has been quietly removed from the TNA website. When you go to her profile page, you get the standard "You are not authorized to view this resource" page, which is what happens to the profile pages after a wrestler parts ways with TNA.

Perhaps proving that the removal of her profile wasn't some sort of accident or error, all of her Knockouts photos have been removed as well. When you go to the Knockouts photo section, Gail's page is nowhere to be found.

TNA almost never announces company departures on the website, so there is no way of knowing what the deal is with missing talent unless you go to a wrestling news website such as PWMania.com. In fact, the only "future endeavors" notes they have announced over the past year were done to further angles involving Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian so they could be written off of television.

It was announced on September 6, 2006 that Gail Kim had a signed a contract with TNA. If by chance her contract were to expire, it would probably be around this time. Team 3D signed three-year deals during this time frame, so perhaps she had the same contract length as well. Talent rarely get four-year deals, five-year deals are usually long, and we never heard anything about Gail renewing her contract on a year-to-year basis, so her original contract was likely a three-year deal.
Quote:

PWMania.com wrote:
The backstage word is that many people are surprised with the departure of Gail Kim from TNA Wrestling. Her contract was due to expire and was being renegotiated with everyone expecting her to re-sign with the company, however negotiations between her and TNA fell through which resulted in her departure.

Plenty of speculation regarding Gail Kim returning to World Wrestling Entertainment at some point has been going round. According to one source, WWE was definitely interested in bringing Gail Kim back if she was unable to reach an agreement on a new deal with TNA.

WWE officials have been keeping their eye on Gail Kim for several months now as they are aware of the success that she has brought TNA with their Knockout division which has been built around Kim.

Another source suggested that there was some conflict between Kim’s TNA contract and contract with her booking agent who has been booking her with several personal appearances.

Quote:

PWInsider.com wrote:
Former TNA Knockout champion Gail Kim will be heading back to World Wrestling Entertainment, according to several WWE sources. From what I am told, it was a pretty sizeable offer so I'd expect her to be pretty heavily in the Diva mix when she debuts.

Kim's contract with TNA was coming up, so once it expires, she is free to start working for WWE. I was told the decision was completely a financial one, not anything stemming from unhappiness over how she was booked or presented by TNA, which made her the nucleus of their Knockouts division when it officially launched last year.

TNA sources indicate that Kim left on extremely good terms and as one person told me, the "door is always open". I am told there was no heat over her departure.

If this somehow breaks the rules of cf I am sorry, just trying to update on the latest news :)

Good lord, I never saw that coming... :(

Gotta be something fishy there, I know he was a roid monkey, it was obvious, but this is still a huge shock, I was a big fan :(

RIP Test.

Russ 14-03-2009 12:03

Re: WWE

Actually it was widely reported that he wasn't on the gear. It's said the reason Vince brought him back a few years ago was after the Wellness Policy he was low on legitimate 'big guys' so people like Test, Chuck Polumbo and a few other large wrestlers were brought back in.

It could have been an 'Eddie' situation though, he had been clean for years but previous drug use weakened his system.

KillswitchEdge 14-03-2009 12:22

Re: WWE

It's possible but I'm not so sure about that. Didn't TNA hire him and fire him pretty much the same month because he was roided out and the industry was still dealing with the fallout from the Benoit tragedy?

I vaguely remember the US Congress investigating WWE, TNA and a few other companies and I'm sure TNA released Martin due to his massive size and doubts that he was clean. I could be wrong though.

TNA hired him on a non-contract basis but decided they didn't have anything for him and let him go about a month later.

KillswitchEdge 14-03-2009 13:17

Re: WWE

That was the politically correct version, according to rajah.com (a very good source of insider information - admittedly grabbed from other sites) the internal reason was that Dixie Carter and Jeff Jarrett didn't want TNA looking bad for having a guy built like Test on the roster.

He was obviously roided though, I mean he even got to the state where he was a bit chubby but still had a 6-pack, that's not normal, that's roid use through and through. To have a belly and still have a 6 pack is a really bad sign.

Indeed.

Andrew "Test" Martin is already gone from TNA Wrestling
. Martin was brought in last month and was immediately pushed into a top match at TNA's last PPV. The reason for his firing is his unreasonably muscular
physique. At a time when TNA is being investigated by the United States Congress, Martin stuck out like a sore thumb and management
was convinced he could not pass a drug test
. Test was told he could come back to the company when he loses considerable weight.

-- "The Punisher" Andrew Martin did a post on his MySpace page in which he defends the usage of steroids in professional wrestling. He says that they're mostly for cosmetic reasons and compares them to a facelift or botox. However, he says that it's wrong for athletes in other sports to use them because steroids give them a competitive edge. He also mentions TNA at the end of his post by saying, "Don't forget to watch TNA at 9pm eastern time on spike, you will be pleasantly surprised to see how far this company has grown and will continue to do so or you could always watch the same guys I watched when I was a kid doing the same boring story lines. TNA TNA TNA????" You can read the post in its entirety at profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=743 9092.

The myspace link just seems to go to his latest (and sadly last) myspace entry, but as you can see from that there, he advocated steroid use in pro wrestling and likened it to actors and actresses getting cosmetic surgery to secure movie roles.

He wasn't wrong either. It's a business where your appearance is just as important as your ability, and where the good looking guys with the obscenely ripped physiques get all the attention, which leads to better storylines, championships and fame, which all equals money like a normal company's promotion method.

Unfortunately for him it's entirely likely that he paid the ultimate price for his outlook, unless by some twist of fate it turns out that he didn't die from drug usage.

Stranger things have happened though, when I was at primary school one of my friends older brothers died of simple cot death at 21 years old. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Andrew Martin died of "natural" causes or another unrelated accident, but occam's razor usually states that the simplest and most obvious option is usually the correct one.

And it's such a damn shame, I loved the guy's in ring work even if many saw him as just a roided out freak. That running big boot of his was the most epic thing I've ever seen. It made Bradshaw's Clothesline from Hell look weak in comparison.

RIP mate.

It's a business where your appearance is just as important as your ability, and where the good looking guys with the obscenely ripped physiques get all the attention, which leads to better storylines, championships and fame, which all equals money like a normal company's promotion method.

It might get someone noticed but if they can't work and don't get over then a ripped physique gets you nowhere, just look at Lex Luger in the 90s, a body that looks like it was carved from granite but he couldn't work to save his life.

Russ, i thought the reason Lex Lugers career went down the pan was to do with Drugs especially Steroid abuse.

Re: WWE

That didn't stop him being a multi-time WCW champion and joint Royal Rumble winner though, did it?

Which is exactly my point. The big guys always get over in the eyes of management because at the end of the day the average wrestling fan wants to see two monsters go at it. If every match featured guys like Jamie Noble versus Crash Holly (rest his soul), while the real fans would enjoy the skill involved and the creativity, the average fan, who makes up a large percentage of the fanbase of the industry, would find it boring and tedious.

And it's still a business at the end of the day.

I can name a ton of guys who are exactly like that in the industry right now who are or have been champions at one time. Khali is a great example of a guy who was clearly only given the belt because he's over 7ft and weighs 400 pounds of pure muscle. I'm not saying Khali roided up at any point (it's always possible though), but he can't "wrestle" to save his life. He lumbers around like a giraffe on stilts that can't bend it's legs and performs the most basic of moves, yet Vince McMahon put the world title on his shoulder the same way he did for a bunch of other talentless guys. Hell, it's only been in the last year or two that Batista has even been worth watching, yet he's a multi-time world champion too.

Re: WWE

That's exactly the point I'm making - if you can't work then you won't last. Sure Vince gives the big guys a try but the fans aren't stupid. Khali is possibly the worst wrestler ever in the history of WWE but his size got him his chance. He's not that much bigger than Big Show but what a contract in styles, one can work, the other can't.

Similar issue with the Ultimate Warrior. Amazing physique, bags of charisma but he only knew about 5 moves and eventually he dropped the belt and they had no plans to put it on him again.

Being big will get you a chance but if you can't work (Luger, Warrior, Khali etc) then the fans will see through it and even though Vince marks out for the big guys, he's not stupid enough to give the fans a product they don't want. I'm not saying big equates to being a bad worker (Lesnar, Batista, Big Show, 'Taker, Kane etc etc) but having nothing other than size doesn't get you very far.

Re: WWE

Oh I agree completely, but a lot of these guys are seeing steroids as a way of being given a chance. They think that if they bulk up and look bigger, it'll be a way into something bigger for them career-wise and financially, which is a real shame as we all know the side effects of such things.

Whether they make the most of the chance after they're given it is usually down to the ability of the person in question. I always considered Test to be an extremely talented guy, perhaps even capable of a world title run, and he had the look about him to be versatile as both a heel and face, especially during the whole Test vs HHH and Stephanie thing. Given a proper push he could have gone on to be a main eventer. Just a shame it didn't work out that way.

The Rock Says There's No Question He's Retired
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson spoke with Moviefone.com recently and was asked when the last time he performed The People’s Elbow was. The Rock replied with this:

“There was a considerable amount of alcohol involved … [Laughs] No, honestly the last time I did that was in Madison Square Garden five years ago. I’ve retired — that was my very last match. What a perfect place to end my career, in Madison Square Garden. I had the best time within that five or six year period, creating that character. There’s nothing like performing in front of a live audience and the energy and adrenaline rush that I got. Being in that world provided me with really invaluable experience in terms of entertaining an audience.”

I guess that answers that question...

Still a damn shame, was watching some vids on Youtube from Test's early run as well as his ECW on Sci-Fi run, I'd forgotten how good he actually was.

Don't trust Wiki all the time but this seems pretty solid.

In 2007, Doll was hospitalized after having a seizure related to an intestinal blockage. He underwent surgery, and had been placed on life support. On March 22, 2009, Doll died after his family decided to remove him from his ventilator.

wwe, I'm not being confrontational or anything but since I've seen you ask a lot of questions like this I'm guessing you don't read any wrestling-based news websites, so I'll give you a link to one. Some of the info may not be very interesting from time to time, but you should check out

http://rajah.com/base/

I read it daily, it's updated very often, multiple times per day sometimes (depending on breaking news, etc.) and it's been an invaluable source of information for me as a wrestling fan. There are other sites out there, but I find Rajah.com to be probably the easiest laid-out website.

I'd avoid the forums though, they're a bunch of elitist pricks over there. Ironic for a bunch of people who by other's standards are "lame" for watching a "fake sport".

On another note: Test's autopsy results came back the other day and it turns out he overdosed on Oxycodone. What. A. Muppet. Still a damn shame, but a completely unnecessary death. It's the same thing that killed Sherri Martel, and Heath Ledger too.

Speculating here but he might have got addicted to it trying to perform whilst injured, addiction to painkillers is just as rife as steroids in the industry after all, yet another young death to add to the tragically long list.
