Nope, but its all normal, my logs, and most other NTL modems I've checked (friends and family) all have them too.

Ok incase this has not been posted it will be £25 for a new modem if you have one that has a 10base network card.

The first few UBR's will have there modem put up to 20Mb on the 1st NOT ALL MODEMS WILL BE DONE AT THIS TIME!!! Please Dont moan they your modem is not on 20mb yet it will take time :)

Something else to bring up i noticed some folk going on about sky BBI. If you are a gamer dont evan think about it, sky will not turn interleaved off on any connections they supply.
The Interleaved option on the leased LLU's for all ISP's using it has the option of interleaved that was introduced with broadband max. (btw this can be turned of easly by the isp but sky wont for some reason)
Interleaved adds around 40ms latency to the ADSL line so as to give a more stable and faster connection.

Thats a bit wrong. Well surely then if i was to pay £25 for the new modem i would own it? Then what happens if anything goes wrong with it.

They will still sort it if it brakes tho

But VM dont charge for renting out there equipment. Thats why its free if it brakes. The £25 charge for the upgrasde in modem if needed is for an engineer visit as far as im aware, which is still wrong anyway.

The rental charge is included in the price per month. If they want to charge you for a modem, they are essentially charging you twice for it. I suggest telling them either they cut your monthly charge down, give you a free modem, or you leave them.

It won't be if you're capable of installing it yourself.

very well as i said i had only been advised of this charge today. I thought the quick start was only for new services on accounts that already have had service's in the house/have just tv or phone. most people will not want to do this, I know meny people have gone for quick start when new to bbi and had to get a tech. cos they just did not know what they were doing

Well, if they don't know what they're doing & need a tech they shouldn't be surprised that they have to pay £25.

You're not paying for the modem, you're paying for the visit to install it.

If you want to upgrade to V+ you might expect to pay for a tech's visit to swap your box, so why should it be any different to upgrade your BBI?
