Just finished 5 miles at 39 minutes 56 - I won't know my position for a few days yet but I'm really impressed that I managed a sub-40 in my first competitive race :)

Cheers guys - no idea how I managed it and it was disheartening at one point when I was halfway around a 3 mile lake to see some of the younger runners coming out of it the other end! But I noticed that only 4 or 5 people overtook me so I'm quietly confident my position won't be too embarrassing :)

Hey kiddo, the fact that you finished is brilliant. Virtual couch potato to dedicated runner in such a short time shows how single minded you have been. :tu:

LOL I was giving you the benefit of the doubt. Hopping in and out of a ring has to create at least a modicum of fitness. :D

Well done. 8 minute miles is a great average. ;)

Results are in: 139th out of 166 and my time was actually 39.45. Not so bad overall.

That not too shabby a result at all and certainly gives you a good target to aim to better next time. :tu:
