Sadly, that is true. But it doesn't have to be that way and it's time OFCOM did something about it.

They needed too or Sky sports football coverage would be really light. I wonder how much extra it cost them and longer us.

So the initial rumours were no more then pure codswallop it seems.

Yes and no.
I think it's probably true that Sky refused to go a second bid; that seems pretty conclusive. However, what happened after this and the "win by BT Sport" seems to have been conjecture on the part of Charles Sales (he of the Daily Mail) and others.
Here's Sales's latest writing on the matter. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...-60m-deal.html

Seems like shrewd business by SKY:

Picked up the La Liga rights for less than they bid for them initially after pulling out of the bidding race!

It seems they threw the dummy out of the pram after pulling out of the first rights auction though.

Agreed, good tactics and outcome from Sky, poor handling by Mediapro. Will BT even bother to bid in three years' time?
What interests me is how Sky knew that BT's bid was well below theirs? Surely Mediapro wouldn't tell them? Then again...:)

Watching the Astra V West Ham game on BT Sport Europe HD, pretty poor from the info point of view, in respect that they are only showing the current scoreline, but not the aggregate score, which is usually shown in brackets below the current score.

Probably couldn't squeeze it on the screen with that behemoth of a logo.

They really need to sort that. The DOG needs to be at the top of the screen and less intrusive.

Don't know why we need them anyway (DOGs), they're a distraction, for me at least, on all channels that use them. If people can't remember what channel they're watching or don't know which button to press to find out, then their remote controls should be impounded until they've done a Soviet Union style re-education course. And yes, I did get out of bed on the wrong side this morning.
