Lawrenson made me laugh for the first time, when after Motson told us yet again that Perrotta was born in England he asked him if that was all he knew about Perrotta

Hmmm. A pericardial thump like that, depending on the timing of the heart, can stop the heart permanently.

I'd love to know what they do say to one another. I think they should all wear microphones, a la Big Brother :D

He tweaked his nipple! Watch it again. You can excuse Zidane after you see the blatant nipple tweak.

Really? I like my nipples being tweaked. Bit of nibbling too - gently though. I'd be a bit worried if he'd done that to Zidane, mind you. Not in public, please. Doesn't exactly warrant a head butt though :erm:

I think he smiled after that. Then he walked away, turned back (presumably because something was said), and delivered the Glasgow Kiss. So sad, to see a great player go out like that :(

So then now it is all over what did we think to it. Personally I found it exciting, although I think it needed a truly world class player to take the the competition by the scruff of the neck. On the whole though :tu:

Nipple tweaking, and other forms of wind up tactics happen all the time. Zidane shouldn't have reacted to that, or any form of wind up. I see no difference in what Zidane did, and what Rooney did. They both were wound up by the opposition, both reacted, and were both sent off.

I was only messing with the nipple tweaking.

He probably told Zidane to play for this own country.

Zidane is no stranger to headbutting

The whole tournament was a complete let-down.

If that's the best football the world has to offer, the level of skills really gone down.

The amount of blatent diving and crybabies really spoilt everything aswell.

I think the tournament went down hill esp. after the group stages. There was too much blatant cheating, too many stoppages, too many stretchers coming on only for the player to get up as if nothing had happened, too many referees losing control, too many corporate tickets, laughable ticket allocations, and Christian Ronaldo. Fifa need to sort these issues out before the next world cup lest it descends into a shambles.

On the plus side there were some wonderful goals and a minimal amount of crowd trouble, which let's only hope can change the reputation of England fans once and for all (personally I thought the English support was fantastic and quite probably the best of the tournie).

The one change I would make if I was Fifa president was a directive that all players had to play to an effort and standard equivalent to their salaries. Not too much to ask is it?

Changes I would make to football, add your own...

Injuries. Stop this nonsense of putting the ball out of play, if the ref thinks the injury is serious then he can stop play, otherwise play on. If a team wants to put the ball out of play to allow a team mate to get help then they can but they don't get it back.

Drop balls. Start contesting them again! We want to see feet flying!

Diving. Games should be reviewed and any player diving, or trying to con the ref should be banned for 3 games.

Instruct TV producers that people tuning into a football match want to watch football, not play spot the celebrity, good looking girl etc in the crowd. (Unless it is those two Sweedish girls kissing again).

 ZZ wins the Golden Ball Award! :tu:

The only thing he did wrong yesterday was not wait until after the game to pound Materazzi's head in.

We want to have decent behaviour and I admit we were critical of this. Players should be role models and fair play is a consideration.

Zidane named best player

Zinedine Zidane won the Golden Ball award for the World Cup's best player, despite being dismissed for headbutting Marco Materazzi in the final.
