... is this relevant?

[dunce] Sorry if it isn't, I haven't the faintest idea what it means. [/dunce mode]

I also found this ..

Then Windows 8.1 Preview will download. Before it installs, it will do a series of compatibility checks to make sure your PC can run the Preview. If an issue is found, the installation won’t proceed.

Please note: Some tablets and PCs running newer 32-bit Atom processors require updates to their graphics drivers before they can run the Windows 8.1 Preview. Those tablets and PCs include the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2, ASUS VivoTab TF810C, HP Envy X2, HP ElitePad 900, Samsung ATIV Smart PC, and Fujitsu ARROWS Tab. We are working closely with Intel and OEM partners to deliver updated drivers that will allow you to install the Windows 8.1 Preview as soon as possible.

Just checked download again and it seems to be for Window RT, so maybe that's the problem?

Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion

Apparently this is the fix for the 'not applicable' message:

1. Place and rename the MSU file in an easily accessible place, e.g. C:\8preview\preview.msu
2. open command prompt in administrator mode.
3. Type: Expand –F:* c:\8preview\preview.msu C:\8preview\
4. Type: DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:c:\8preview\Windows8-RT-KB2849636-x64.cab

I've been trying it but CMD comes back after point 3 saying Destination is not a directory: C:\8preview. Any ideas?

Re: [MERGED] Windows 8 discussion

I think the problem is I'm using windows eng(gb) not eng(us) - I'm not going to force and install as I suspect odd (more odd than normal I mean) may ensue.

Thoughts on 8.1 for people who have it installed?

Can you make it so when you click the start button it will then display the start screen in APP mode as default?

Do we know when the final is expected? :)
