I'd be interested to know what the actual percentage is now.

I'd guess 50%. The 50% point for living room TVs was reached in 2007, but people tend to move their old TV to another room when they buy a new one, so the overall percentage of widescreen creeps up slower than the new TV sales figures might suggest.

What is this with "I must get a new tele for the switchover ?" Your old tele will work if it is hooked up to a digital box, whether it is Freeview, cable or Sky/FreeSat.

You don't need a new tele !

I did know that  I meant at least for the main TV it will be an excuse to ditch the 4:3 TV for one that supports widescreen ;)

it wasnt promised they said they intend to, by what i remeber the word intend means try and virign have admitted access to hd is limited and at a cost you say virgin ruined ntl, i say sky has ruined any chance of virign having hd

Actually Andrew have a look at the wording, "we will be launching four channels over the next four months".
In anybodies language that is a promise.:)

That's more like it, a realistic aim for Virgin Media! I can imagine the press release...

"It's finally here*, what our loyal customer base has longed for..........ONLY on Virgin Media...............Yorkshire Radio. And on top of that, we are also bringing you Yorkshire Radio + 1, we will be removing Sky Sports 1-3 to make room for Yorkshire Radio + 2, +3 and the fantastic Yorkshire Radio + 24. And all this for a low low monthly subscription fee of £4.99 per month.

*Coming soon"

Oh yes, I'll have some of that;) Sky can keep their thirty plus HD channels, who needs those when Berkett has delivered "Yorkshire radio" to the VM epg.
WOW we are still in the race...beat that Rupert.;)
