No I donââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t have a problem with anyone from NTL posting here, LOL. I am as it stands, now, but once my area is upgraded, I wont! You seem to be missing the point all Iâ₠¬ÃƒÆ’¢â€žÂ¢m saying is once the above happens I should be paying for the speed I receive. I canââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t see how you think itââ‚ ¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s right that someone next door could be receiving 2megs because they have the correct equipment but through no fault of my own I cannot. As I said before all it would have taken is some pre-planning.

a similar thing happens with the webspace - changing the email password doesn't update the webspace login password, which still wants the 'old' one to allow login.

- as far as I know only Technical Support can fix this, not Customer Services, but I'm happy to be proved wrong ;)

<edit> or you need a really helpful bloke like Bill C :tu:

All sorted :)

sorry, but with respect, I think you are missing the point - this upgrade has been planned and that plan is now being executed.

There never ever was going to be a way that NTL could flick a switch & upgrade everyone at once, no matter how good the planning.

Undeniably, it is a pain for the people still waiting, but short of equipping everyone with an STB with a Samsung, whether they need one, or not, I can't see any other way to do it. (and this would still take time to do)

It would have been nice for them to send the anticipated letter to stb users explaining what was happening & get some feedback, sooner than they have, though :)

Had to ring CS earlier, very pleased as I got straight through (looks like they've made a change to the CS service, as the last few times I've managed to get through very quickly).

Anyway, I asked to be put on 1MB, but I don't see any difference in my download speed. Is there a good way to check I am on the 1mb service, without calling Tech support or CS again?

Confused of Wales

Hi, I didnââ‚ ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢t say everyone should or would be upgraded at once, we all understand theirââ‚ƚ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s going to be a roll out. But the most frustrating part of this exercise, is not knowing which areas are being upgraded, plus the STB fiasco. I know for instance there are some who have been upgraded, via postings, within my area. If they contacted Pace STB users prior to the upgrade they would have known who and who didnââ‚ ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢t want to go beyond the 1meg limit. That would then have give an indication of the STBââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢s needed. But instead what we have now is people ringing up and being told †˜you canââ‚Âà ‚¬ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â‚¬Å¾Ã‚¢t have one until at least 4th April and then there may be 2 week wait for it to be installed. This does not make for good customer service!

I know this has been posted already, but please could someone give the URL for the speed upgrade thing?

Does it work for set-top boxes? (I already have a Samsung.)

The CS agent said it would be done within an hour, I've tried rebooting the PC & Modem as well, but the speed doesn't seem any different

Hence my confusion

It is genuine - did you try to repeat the test from the source server?

Re: *ALL* Speed Upgrade Discussion In Here Please (Part 4)

Just re-tried it from the source as suggested

Fri, 11 Mar 2005 21:38:10 UTC
1st 128K took 3610 ms = 36308 Bytes/sec = approx 302 kbits/sec
2nd 128K took 9031 ms = 14514 Bytes/sec = approx 121 kbits/sec
3rd 128K took 8531 ms = 15364 Bytes/sec = approx 128 kbits/sec
4th 128K took 4625 ms = 28340 Bytes/sec = approx 236 kbits/sec

Does that look like 1mb to you guys?

Approaching Terminal Confusion, please stand back

yes, I agree with you there, in principle, but, I do still wonder about the practicality of it, a little. I wonder what percentage of people would change their mind in the time between completing the survey, and installation, or move house, go bankrupt - lol , you get the picture :) - my point being that ntl will have expended a huge effort and still not have got it right, for everyone. :)

nope sadly your getting more along the lines between 120kbits and 300kbits - quite far off 1000kbits you should get
