Prometheus 7 out of 10

Interesting concept doubt the will be a sequel.

Waste of time going to watch it in 3D as the adverts outclass the movies 3D so do not waste your money and just go to the 2D screening.

I only saw it in 3D due to it being Orange Wednesday and my Fact membership.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw

I watched the Collector's Edition Extended Cut of Avatar on Blu-ray this afternoon (first time I've watched the film since the cinema, first time I've seen the long cut), and I hereby retract all my previous criticism of the film oops:

Bloody awesome. I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than when I saw it on the big screen (at which time although I loved the SFX I was very critical of the story and characters, possibly more due to hating the hype than the film itself).

9/10, and not just because of the SFX. Hell, I'd be tempted to maybe even give it 10/10, but that would put it level with The Usual Suspects and LA Confidential, two of my "reference 10s", and I didn't like it *that* much. Plus, no film that has a Leona Lewis song over the end credits can truly be worthy of a 10!

10/10 for the picture and again for the sound. This is easily *the* best looking and best sounding Blu-ray Disc I have ever watched. Really is *the* reference disc. Stunning.

John Carter of Mars.
While the premise of the film\story seemed good the execution of the live characters was pretty poor. CGI was pretty good, without which I would only give it a 2/10 so it gets a 5/10 for the CGI.
Not surprised it ranks up there as a cinematic flop.

Unfortunately, I bought the blu ray of the original, watched it once, still thought it was an hour and a half too long.

I also watched it the other day, and thought the same.

Prometheus - 7/10

Scores highly with me for visual effects and sound

But the script is a bloody mess and the scenes in the film have obviously been cut up quite extremely, as it doesn't flow properly.

Supposedly there's 27 minutes of extra footage that was cut, but will be added to the DC/ED DVD/Bluray

Scott and Crowe have both previously expressed interest in possibly doing a sequel, however I think the critical and commercial failure of the film pretty much rules it out.

Snow White and the Huntsman. 8/10.
Pretty good fantasy action adventure flick. Kristen Stewart actually is quite a good actress. Actually most of the cast play their parts fairly well (Ray Winstone, Bob Hoskins and Ian McShane as dwarves are especially entertaining), but Charlize Theron is absolutely amazing as the evil queen.

The one thing that surpises me is that director has no experience in feature films (the biggest thing he directed before was a commercial for Halo), and the screen writers have only written low budget movies, but this is a movie with a budget of over $100,000,000 and arguably a blockbuster.

I would say all concerned did a good job. The film looks good, sounds good (especially the large battles) and is entertaining.

totally agree, the characters didn't seem to have enough time to develop and difficult to get any empathy going with any of the characters. will give it another go in a year or two with the DC

One of the best films I've seen in a long time. It'll never win an Oscar but considering the franchise is 13 years old it keeps the tone of the series with the right amount of 'moving on'.

It tied up all loose ends and ended the right way, especially for Stiffler ;)

They should not take this series any further now.

Oh and if you saw the original when it came out, it will make you feel OLD....:)

Frankenstein (National Theatre Live recording of the 2011 play)

Adapted by Nick Dear from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, and directed by Danny Boyle.

Absolutely bloody excellent, with a top-notch cast headed up by Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller.

During the stage run at the National Theatre last year, Cumberbatch and Miller alternated the main roles: Frankenstein and the Creature.

The recording Mrs D and I saw tonight at our local Arts Picturehouse had Cumberbatch as Frankenstein and Miller as the Creature. They were both excellent. I wish we'd been able to also see them in the opposite roles.

At least a 9/10. Awesome. Absolutely loved it.

No issues with it as a whole, or with the ending, other than one plot-holey type thing that I'd like answered but can ignore.

Hardy was great as Bane (& I had no trouble with his voice), and Hathaway was great as Selina (plus also has a very nice arse). Gordon-Levitt and Cotillard were very good too, plus of course the returning cast were as great as always.

I didn't have *any* problems with Bane's voice, or with the dialogue in general, but I've seen other people commenting on how he was hard to understand at times and how the dialogue itself was sometimes drowned out by the score. Makes me wonder if some cinemas had the soundtrack a bit "off" somehow?

Understanding Bane was fine but a few times the Bass seemed really, really turned way up so all you could really hear was an ongoing rumble. I was sitting pretty much under a speaker though which won't have helped.

Dark Knight Rises 9/10

Amazing end to the trilogy and a film I shall enjoy watching many times over. Lots of wee things I didn't know about so the ending had me grinning from ear to ear :)

Wouldhave been a 10 but there wasn't enough of Ann Hathaway's rear in the Catwoman costume :P

The Dark Knight Rises - 8/10

Good, but Bane's voice annoyed me.

Ted 8/10

I was surprised how good it was, as I was worried they may have used all the good bits in the trailer, and 90odd mins of fart jokes and a teddy bear swearing would get tired, but glad to say the excellent homage to 80s kids films worked really well. I'm sure on repeated viewings would pick up more and more references, and hear jokes missed from laughing so much.

Sniper Reloaded http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1571243/ Not a great film by any stretch, but still worth a watch. Billy Zane pops up to reprise his character from the original Sniper movie.
6.5/10

Silver Streak 6/10

Richard Pryor doesn't turn up until over an hour into the film! Gene Wilder as brilliant as ever.

Expendables 2 - 7/10

Very enjoyable mindless action but some huuuuugggggeeee plot holes annoyed me and it just a little too cheesy in some points.

Expendables 2, 10/10 for me, as I found it quite funny with all the one liners, and loved the first movie. Hoping for a 3rd movie at some point :)

Yes. It's never going to win any awards for storylines or acting, having the lead baddy called Villian gives an idea of the level its aiming at, but it's got a good few laughs (after 4 1/2 days it died :D ) and very enjoyable.
