Well, at £5.99 per month, it will be interesting to see the impact of the Britbox experience!

Looking at a lot of comments online, people believe they are being asked to pay twice for the same content.
I for one will definitely not be paying for Brit Box.

BBC are asking for content put on the iPlayer to be extended to a years stay on there rather then a month but what that means in reality with Britbox coming one can only guess.

That was provisionally approved last month.

I'd pay for it /IF/ they reverted to their original plant of digitising the back catalogue of BBC content as promised by Greg Dyke back in 2003

Last Sunday, Greg Dyke changed that. He revealed that the BBC is planning to digitise and offer for download, for free, as much of its back catalogue of programmes that it can legally do, from the earliest radio reels to nature documentaries to educational programmes. Anyone will be allowed to re-use, re-edit and mix this material with their own, provided it's for non-commercial use.

It would also be great to see some of the old BBC shows which BSB Galaxy had and Gold original showed some of. The like of Grange Hill and 'Till Death Us Do Part.

NOT the 5-6 series which rotate non-stop of the current Gold channel.

Thames TV had a lot of classic stuff but appears not to be a part of the ITV archive anymore - so is being picked up by the likes of Forces TV and Talking Pictures.

That is the great problem though as even some of the older content is not solely owned by BBC and ITV and you could also have series which ran for years and it might have several owners of its content.

True, and if this is your first experience of streaming, bear in mind that Netflix has a much better choice, and all without increased charge over and above the subscription. You can get a free trial with that, too, and it's already on Virgin Media.

Netflix is of no interest to me - only into sport

The Amazon app has appeared in my 'Apps list' and is loading fine.

Programmes on Amazon are appearing in the V6 search menus and link to the app.

And subscribed Amazon channels, like Eurosport Xtra and MGM, are all streaming fine.

Nothing has shown up on "my app list" yet.
