How can I know whether my modem is capable of a new speeds or not?
It says NTL Home 120 at the bottom of the modem.

Always reboot your modem or STB before you ring anyone, because if you don't get the new speed then, the file change hasn't happened in your area.

indeed thats why many of us are reading this thread, to see evidence of this 'staggered rollout'.

so far, nothing other than some obscure reference to a single irish person getting upgraded.........

again, the fact that this so called offering is 'free' for current customers and at present false advertising for new customers
(my friend re-joined NTL on the basis of the advertised 4mbit for instance, so its relevent for him, and many others too), why is it that it seems every single advert, system and employee are stating the company line of 4mbit to all that will listen and hence they have been upgraded as it were, but not one single confirmed upgraded modem in all of the NTL/Tw network so far.

Thanks a lot.

Another small question, I have noticed that some users know what firmware their modem is using. How can I know it?

I assume I must be connected to the modem directly, in order to do this? I am behing wireless router atm and my LAN has different subnet from 192.168.100.0/24.

I'm behind a router & it works for me, but I don't have a LAN, it is purely used to share the connection, not files ;)

My router shows this in ipconfig:

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

But 192.168.100.1 works, try it out.
