Virgin Media to axe Trouble channel

Virgin Media Television will close its Trouble channel and replace it with another version of Living, it has emerged.

According to Broadcast, that is not set in stone. VM may axe Trouble, or may not.

As I've said before, VM will likely rebrand all their channels later in the year and Broadcast reports that Living 2 will definitely get rebranded. So, it seems unlikely that there will be a Living 3, if there's no Living 2...

BBC on Virgin TV:
On March 24th Virgin TV hope to launch BBC TV and Radio Channels in all areas:

BBC Alba may launch on Virgin TV on March 24.

The following channels may launch in Ex-Telewest areas on March 24:
BBC One England
BBC One Scotland
BBC One Northern Ireland
BBC One Wales
BBC Two England
BBC Radio Scotland
BBC Radio Wales
BBC Radio Ulster
BBC Radio nan Gaidheal
BBC Radio Cymru

The following channel may launch in Ex-ntl areas on March 24:
BBC Radio 4 LW

NOTE: The BBC TV and Radio launch date is subject to change.

An other insider told me this week ''I think that is the plan, but I am not certain.''

But as far as I know no tests has appeared on Virgin TV (Ex-CW or Ex-ntl) for BBC Alba and BBC Radio 4 LW. But Virgin did not start testing Sky Basic Channels until the Friday before they launch on the following Tuesday.

I think Living2 +1 will stay at EPG Channel 160.

I will have more information on the EPG Channel number for Living +2 on Wednesday when both my V+ HD and Ex-Sky + boxes are updated to April 1st.

I think Virgin will have Living +2 on Virgin Channel 140 or an new channel number.

Discovery Shed launched today and transmitting in widescreen. Not bad Discovery only another 8 channels to go widescreen how difficult can it be to make them all broadcast in widescreen. Many others have managed after all we do all have widescreen tv's or has no one tolled you this yet its the 21st century

Not sure when it happened, but SciFi (soon to by SyFy!) is showing some content in widescreen now.

I'd be interested to know what the actual percentage is now. Normal sized TVs have been widescreen for a decade or more now, so there the ratio must be dramatically in favour of widescreen by now.

It would be even more interesting to know what the fugures are of HDTVs vs SDTVs.

Very true! Actually I was being a bit flippant there .. sorry about that!

I do have a widescreen as it happens (a Schneider CRT about 5 years old), but I do know people that don't .. certainly a neighbor I visit doesn't, nor could she afford to buy one being a pensioner!

My nearest neighbours don't use one either, but can't ask them about it coz they don't speak any english.

Even with the credit crunch the gap will greatly widen with people trading in their TV's for new LCD HD ones when their areas are switched over to digital only
