Unbelievable, 14 years old and already a petulant brat, seems he was destined for a career in professional football, they are well shot of him, with a bit of luck he'll spend 'a lot' of years rotting in Uniteds reserves as punishment, as he could have been playing first team football next year with Burnley

that does seem to be the nature of football at the moment. These kids are just bought like pieces of meat. If it doesn't work out we'll just sell him on and not care about him either.

But it's one of the best places to learn, United have one of the top academys in the world, where as Burnley don't, i'm sure any young player would rather learn their football at a good academy rather than a poor one.

No it isn't, the best place to learn is on the pitch playing with other professionals, not playing kids football in the mollycoddled Premier League, had he stayed at a lower league club not only would he have benefited from playing first team football, he'd have seen life in the real world to, cleaning his own boots, cold showers, early morning coach trips because the club couldn't afford overnight hotel stays etc all character building and hopefully it would make him realise how privileged he is when he finally made it into the big time

I disagree, learning at an academy with top facilities would be far better for a young player then playing at a lower league club with poor facilities, i don't see what anyone would get from getting a early morning coach to a game or having cold showers. He wouldn't be able to advance his ability or career learning from lower league coaches as he would at a bigger club, the best thing for him was to move on imo.

Ok you can't see how it is better to be playing first team football as opposed to kids football? Why do clubs send kids out on loan then? People probably said the same about Trevor Sinclair when he turned Man U down for Blackpool but then by the time he was 20 and ready to move to a Premier League club he had over 200 appearances under his belt, compare that to Jermain Pennant, 15 or 16 and in the Notts C first team, moves to Arsenal and isn't heard of again for years, I am sure he agrees it did his development a lot of good :rolleyes:

Btw the cliches I threw in about the showers etc were to do with character building, footballers today get given everything on a plate, if only they knew how the other half lived, they might be in the papers for the right reasons :(

But being 14 do you really want him playing first team football? He's still only a kid and still learning, the best place to learn is in an academy with top coaches, then going out on loan when you 17/18/19 to play first team football. Some of the best players around came through the academies of United, West Ham etc.

Sometime when he is 15 he can play for the first team, he'd only benefit from the experience, in fact I can't see any draw backs to it, I wonder who advises the lad, family or an agent :scratch:
