CT16, KENT (Bromley)

Installation booked for 3rd Feb.

Dialed 150 Option 5. Operator knew what it was, didn't need to pass me to anyone. Booked it there and then. Is also sending cables out (via post I presume).

Totally painless.

PO9 - Havant, Hampshire - (Bromley)

Dialled 150, option 5.

Agent checked against my postcode and address, and informed me that it would not be available until 30th Jan, and suggested I call back on or after the 30th.

Oh well, I can wait.

ref King Of Fools question re costings:
I'm keeping the second box (but not having it installed just yet!), thus saving £75 intallation.
My monthly cost for the V Box is £10. The unused old box is £5 monthly
But I'm given a £5 discount as I have the Family Pack
So, in essence, it's £10 monthly but no installation fee.
;)
The alternative was to send the box back with the engineer.
That would mean I'd pay £75 installation.
The monthly cost was then £10 with no discount !
:erm:
That's my deal, but it'll come down to who you speak with and what incentives they're on. I understand Virgin aim to rationilse and stabilise the somewhat haphazard pricing structures and discounts that NTL have worked with over the last ten years !!

BB2 Blackburn (Bromley, I think...)

V+ Box on 3rd Feb.

Me too, I'm on the XL pack, and the woman on the other side of the phone said I can keep the box as with Virgin MultiRoom, and get the V+ box, and it will only cost me £10 p/m for the V+ Box... that's it.

No extra charge for multiroom!

How great is that? :D

PO6 - Portsmouth - Bromley

I Called several times over the past weeks and all told me to call on the 23rd(today). So I gave up till then, i called at 8:00 and was told it had been delayed till 30th, then I called again, knowing that half never know what they are talking about. I then asked to speak to whoever supervised the V+ team and asked why, as I knew people were booking installations. She said she doesn't know anything about it. So i tried the 150 and other 0845 number, selecting option 5, again told delayed till mid Feb.

After my frustration I asked the wife to call, she got through in minutes and said im interested in the V+ Box, the operator said will you be needing the HDMI cable? and installation booked for 29th Jan.

I'm quite impressed, but i don't see the installation happening.

Re: PVR release dates

I've been told by an engineer last night that there is absolutely no difference inside or on the back of a black V box or a silver NTL box.
The only difference is colour and logos.
The V box will come with the new coding/software already loaded.
All NTL boxes will have this downloaded to them in the next week.
So it's really down to colour preference and having the new company's logo.

£75.00 for the box and £10 per month extra or
Free box and £5 per month to keep existing box as a second box + £10.00.

Looks like I'll have to wait a little longer.

My mum has Sky+ (I really don't know which is the better - I actually think NTL has slightly better picture quality and a slightly better EPG when it's working - easier to see and show channels you are not subscribed to). Anway, she tried to record something between 20:00 and 21:00 on ITV, and at 21:30 it was still going and showing no signs of stopping. Reminds me of a story about porridge.

Thanks,

Nigel

Thanks for this, answered my question about when its coming to Warrington.

To be honest, I think any date is slightly suspect - until we see it on NTL website, or letter through the door offering it!
I've not even had the information about Virgin Media re-branding...

PO14 Fareham Bromley (I think)

Spoke to Customer Services and the V+ box isn't available until the end of Feb.

The costs are different to those quoted above. I was told £75 installation, £15pm for the V+ and £9.50pm to move the existing STB to the bedroom (price w.e.f 1st Feb)

And I won't need a seperate cable modem.

I think most of what I have been told is utter tosh but will wait until March before double checking their pricing.

if you check http://www.whycable.co.uk/pricechang...Price_List.pdf then you'll see that the prices are already listed.
The V+ Box is shown as £15 per month, unless you have the XL Package (which is the new name for the Family Pack). An additional STB in the house will cost you £9.50 per month without V+, or £5 with V+.
The £75 installation charge will be applied if you exchange your current STB for V+. If you keep your existing STB as an additional box, (and pay the £5 per month charge), then the £75 fee is waived.

The charges have been documented in other threads.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I'm not disputing the costs but it looks like I was only told half the story.

I see from some of the quotes above, some people are only paying £10pm for V+ (including keeping the original STB). Is that because they have the Sports/Movies package?

As AndyCambs said, "the V+ Box is shown as £15 per month, unless you have the XL Package (which is the new name for the Family Pack)."

If you have the TV Size: XL pack then it is £10 per month.

It really could not be clearer in the PDF.
