Only a small moan: The bulb in the freezer's just blown. Can't remember when I last replaced it but I know I used a standard 15W pygmy as a proper, expensive freezer bulb only lasted a month before it. Blooming rip off.

People swimming back stroke in a busy pool, assuming you'll get out of the way and look out for them. If only they'd meet another one coming the other way...

Usually it's OAPS, who've paid diddly squat to get in, who'll be going for free bus ride in a bit; then watching their free tv; with their free winter fuel payment, in their massive empty house and their very generous pension ... Ooops there I go again ;)

Unfortunately cars will choose the time to go wrong inconveniently. At least a courtesy car is better than none at all.

My Moan: Some TV channels that are wall to wall charity adverts. Repetition is a big turn off.

Am I wrong to want to send her back home tomorrow, a week ahead of schedule?

I'm so worried about my dog the wee one felt a lump on his rib cage and hubby has confirmed he has one, hopefully the vet will be able to tell us if it something we need to worry about or not. I really hope it's nothing to worry about but he is getting old now, we have had him for nearly 12 years and we don't know his exact age as we got him from the cat and dog home.

Fed up with soap operas filling the channels every evening all the year round - one leading into to the other. They are the leading cause of diabetes and dementia in the inactive masses, not diet..

They should blank all tv for an hour every evening - call it 'exercise hour' - will it work or would the lazy so and so's just put a dvd on ? ;)

My sisters Labrador has quite a big lump on his rib-cage. Been there for a couple of years. The vet said that they could remove it but that it's benign so unless he really suffers she's letting it be. Old feller is 12 years old and is getting tired on a long walk but still game. Hope it's the same for yours weenie.

Moan: My main PC's clock stops about an hour after it's turned off. It's likely that the coin cell battery on the mobo's run down although speedfan says it's 2.95 volts but that's probably off-load when the PC is powered. I'll have to pull the covers and replace it. Not really an issue but does highlight the age of the machine. Soon be time to build a new one and update the OS.

With luck it could just be that the bearings need lubrication. The heat tends to dry them out and as the motor has very little torque when starting they just stop. They are protected in that state so it aught to be OK.

Yes it is quite common in older dogs as one of our late beloved dogs had a bit of fatty tissue which looked like a lump..

Den the wee one is delighted that his dog is going to be okay although he was annoyed when the vet said that our dog is overweight LOL but I doubt that he will stop feeding him what he does not like on his plate at dinner time, or the slices of cheese he gives him when he is making roasted cheese :) I did laugh at my hubby's answer when the vet said this as his reply was well maybe we have fed him a bit to much over Christmas, I just thought no he gets fed to much all year round.

Oh nash I'm truly sorry for your loss, I lost my best friend 8 years ago due to undiagnosed cancer and when she was eventually admitted to hospital with severe stomach pains it was then she was told that she had cancer that had now spread to her liver, within 3 weeks we lost her. I remember feeling a number of emotions, how could life be so cruel and take someone so young and with a young family away, in shock at just how quickly we lost her, I also remember crying all the time even adverts set me off.

I was left in total shock and disbelief for a long time after her passing nash but as time has went on I'm grateful for the wonderful memories I have of our teenage years and the fun we had together when we went into pubs underage and standing outside saying to each other do we look 18, the meeting of our husbands, having our first child within 8 months of each other, clocking in for each other at our first place of work when we were running late, the list of memories is endless.

Nash no one can take your pain away but with time you will look back at all the wonderful memories you shared. I remember when asked by her husband if I could say a few words at her funeral and I thought what can I say so I was truthful and said what made Lynn so special to me was the fact that when all others were heading out the door she walked past them and headed straight to my side that was my friend.

Your in my thoughts and prayers nash :hugs:

Don't think he'd last long as a subcontractor like myself. I have to sit there and take all the sh and brickbats that come my way and patiently explain to the client why it can't actually be done the way they think it can and why the way I'm proposing is the better solution.

I'll put the phone down and then explode.

Even then they may demand it's done their way. The only satisfaction I get from that is when it fails and they then have to pay again to do it my way.

Yes tact and diplomacy is required at times as one should never go into situations like a bull at a gate as that usually backfires IMO.

Please be careful Mark in how you speak to your manager as they could report you for feeling threatened in their working environment. Feeling threatened includes verbal abuse. I know you say it's only yelling but it could be classed as verbal abuse as your manager could say that they felt feelings of fear, intimidation and stress while you were shouting at her (I assume it is the same manager that you yelled at) what I'm saying Mark is be careful as you really do not want anything on your work record that could be related to bullying.

Employers have a responsibility to their employees to make sure that they feel safe at work that includes both you and management. IMO someone shouting at his/her manager could be seen as threatening behaviour that's just my opinion.

Honestly Mark please try and count to 10, then take a deep breath and if that does not work just walk away rather than put yourself in that position again, that's what I would do.

Sitting in a freezing cold office because of a gas leak, and my company says keep working as there is no legal minimum temperature, just a recommended limit.

I had a radiator but that was knicked to put in the spray shop to keep the temperature above the minimum temperature to spray.

They say the sending out of PIP claim forms to people would be done randomly but myself and many of the disabled people l know all received our forms near enough at the same time.

Yes l will let you know dilli and if you require information don't hesitate in contacting me through the usual channels.:)

My wife wanted to put some more money into premium bonds. What a disaster! You have to have an account now so I proceeded to setup the account with her watching. I then proceed to login. Sorry you have typed the password wrong. No I haven't so try again, same result. You now get told to download a form, fill it in and send it off.

People..

I nearly missed my train yesterday because a family with two pushchairs was standing at the top of the down escalator into my local DLR station, loudly discussing how to get the two pushchairs down, while ignoring the signs pointing to the lift. I don't mind that so much, they may not have noticed the signs. It's the fact they didn't notice the large crowd of people building up behind me and realise they were blocking the way.

Yesterday I accidentally sent a naked picture of myself to everyone in my address book.
Not only was it extremely embarrassing, but it cost me a small fortune in stamps!!

I deleted all of my German friends from my address book the other day. Everyone keeps going on about using Hans free.

I'd say it's easier than the DLA forms and given what I've picked up here about your situation I can't imagine you'll have any problems at all so try not to worry too much just yet mate. :tu:

Good luck with yours too Den!

I hope you are OK Daddy and that you will be able to get back into your flat if only to get your things. The pictures look as though there is a lot of structural damage to one end of the building. <hugs>

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

PC wouldn't boot this morning, couldn't find a boot record on the HDD. I went into the BIOS setup and the HDD order seemed to be wrong, trying the D drive before the C (SSD). Set it to boot preferentially from the SSD and the whole thing burst into life. Stangely Windows seemed to struggle to access my D drive (500G data buffer), did it eventually and all the data seems intact.

The system has recently had the clock and date not running when powered down. The battery shows 2.9v in the BIOS and speedfan but I'm going to change it as it may be corrupting the CMOS now. It is the original battery on the mobo* from a few years ago so could well be on the way out.

Think it's time to look at a new PC build.

*Was top-of-the line when I built this machine.

Edit: Running a full system backup as a precaution.
