Virgin only cover about 20% of Scotland and 20% of Wales. There's also noticeable gaps throughout England. If Virgin had complete UK coverage, offering their current TV deals and broadband speeds would there still be such a large majority choosing SKY?

This is more like an accurate map of Northern Ireland...

Only greater Belfast and Londonderry

I agree; you can't watch 3D for too long without getting eye strain or headaches. The future probably lies in holographic TV, which according to 'Click' should be out by the end of 2012 or thereabouts. This enables the eyes to focus on one point rather than stretching each eye into unnatural positions.

Hopefully, VM will be ahead of the game for that, although I am not sure at this stage whether these images will be capable of being displayed from existing 3D channels or whether you need holographic channels to be able to do see the holographic images.

I, for one, will not be getting a 3D TV although I do think the visual experience is stunning. The subsequent risk of nausea and headache completely puts me off!

If you google holographic TV apart from the first click link all the other sites estimate 2017 to 2022 for the arrival of holographic TV. Click are being very optimistic, if if was round the corner it would be widely talked about already. I reckon it is at lest 10 years off.

Could i ask where you got that map from.:)

I've lost the link!

I do have this one too:y

http://www.broadbandanalyst.co.uk/br...ble-broadband/

I assume the dark grey areas are those which Virgin cover, the areas in red are those which Virgin offer broadband in.

The map I posted earlier, and this map are completely independent from one another but do both appear to show the exact same areas or Virgin coverage.

Here's another version of the map:

Well at last years big A/V shows all the big manufacturers said they hoped to bring glasses free 3D to market in about 4 years but Toshiba have already relased there's it utillises facial recognition with a 4k led screen, cost you about $8,000 though.

8K is way above what the market will pay so it is not really bringing it to market its the same reason we have not seen any 40"+ OLED screens yet as they are too expensive.

I must admit, I was surprised to hear that the end of 2012 was being mooted for the arrival of holographic TV. It'll take a few extra years on top of the arrival date before the price comes down to levels I can afford!
