What I would like is a 1Mbps down and 1Mbps up unlimited service. That way I can host my server better. 200Kbps up and 2Mbps down just doesnt cut it...

Maybe NTL can give some more options for those who want upload not the download. That would be quite interesting to see. I for one want more than 200Kbps upload.

I think NTL will offer a reasonable unmetered 2mb package. I doubt it will be as high as £37.99 - that would be disastrous. People would just bugger off to AOL/Bulldog/UK Online etc.

contention is a typo.

I think you will find the big isp's are becoming more arrogant, BT have recently sent out letters with bills for over £100 for traffic overages, the user's had no warning whatsoever apperently. So the question one might ask is how the likes of zen, ukonline, bulldog, nildram can allow users 300gig+ limits but BT,ntl, wannadoo, plusnet apperently will collapse if people go over 100gig or so, considering the rule of economics it is even more baffling I think the answer is excessive profits.

That'll be it in a nutshell. Gotta get the bubbly for the shareholders!

Nildram altered their limits while i was with them, they now have a 50gig per month "fair use" policy during peak hours, as much as you like off peak.
If you go over, during peak hours you are "limited to 64Kbps transfer rate".

Also , and i quote:

"In the very unlikely event that users hit the Fair Usage allowance they have the option of purchasing additional 'Peak Time' data transfer at 99p per additional 1GB, charged in 2GB increments."

The only plus side is if you dont use your max, whatever's left is carried over till next month.

Well said. i am already in the procees of switching to BT for the phone i will then be in a position to switch broadband if the cap stays low as i have already signed up for sky by broadband

On peak I think their on peak is 8 hours out of 24 so 16 hours a day is unmetered, well over 200gig is possible. So you have possible by accident gone in favour of my argument. Of course the carrying over is also a nice bonus.

Peak Time transfer allowance †“ this applies to data transferred between the hours of 8am and Midnight, seven days a week.
taken from nildrams fair use policy, so it is 16 hours a day is now on peak time for them

Every day - 8 hours off peack + 1.6G during peack time is pretty good.
With 2M line you can download anything you want during these 8 hours. On top of that 1.6G for the rest of the day, considering that you are doing any heavy downloads duting off peack, is more than plenty for surfing the Internet, Gaming, etc.

It strikes me as completely ludicrous that they are providing the massive speed increases with no substantial cap increases to match. I'm sorry but 75Gb is nothing when you are on 10 Mb. I think I'd rather take 1Mb uncapped for 24.99 than 10Mb with a 75 Gb cap for the same price- just to be able to do what I want without having NTL staring over my shoulder every bloody second!

What do you need to download every month that takes up 75gig?

usa tv shows for one, yeah they may be illegal to some extent but who cares as they end up on Uk broadcasts later in the year anyway, it sucks we have to wait so i download these, Plus the Mrs hogs the TV and usually watches all her usual soap rubbish so i often download lots of Uk aired TV shows also, then watch them all on the PC. This alone takes up a far amount of useage, and really no different with what will be offered later anyway by most Tv companies via the internet, so if the usage allowance isn't high enough now yet people are happy with such a low limit, then there's not much hope for the future.

10meg really should be 150gigs per month for top tier.
