Nothing wrong with my S3, so it could easily break it. lol

I wouldn't bother upgrading from if you haven't got 4.3 the first time around. If it works then why break it. Keep 4.12 and wait till all the bugs have been sorted for 4.3.

How will we now it's the modified version? 4.3 has been ready on mine for over a week now but I'm pretty sure it's the duff version.

I don't get either of those presented to me - when I select 'software update' it has a quick think about it then I get the Terms and Conditions screen where I have to agree to not use the software to create ballistic missiles etc

You can only see it before the update itself if you connect it via KIES.

However, if I'd expect that any OTA update from today will be the MK6 version, Samsung had turned off the update mechanism whilst they sorted this out.

As as side note once you are on 4.3 (any version), then there is a new version 3 of KIES needed, which I've actually found to be less rubbish than the older versions.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3

It's not showing up in Kies, where it says 'Current firmware version' it's just blank.

When I select Upgrade and Initialisation I get a pop-up saying 'GT-I9300' does not support initialising.

Which version of KIES are you on at the moment?

If you already have 4.3 on your device, then I think you need KIES 3 http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/us...tware/KIES/JSP

Kies 3* Supported model : Smart Phone/Tablet from Galaxy Note III
(Android OS 4.3 or over)

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3

I haven't got 4.3 - that's what it keeps offering me but I don't know whether it's the faulty version or the new one they've recently released.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3

Ah ok. Maybe the announcement is early then if KIES doesn't see it

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3

What makes you think it would be the faulty version given that was withdrawn several weeks ago?

Re: Samsung Galaxy S3

Because I upgraded it originally and it turned my phone in to a right dog. Very sluggish and showing all thesigns oof what people had been reported as negative.

I went back down to 4.1.2 and it's still offering me 4.3
