A better Daniel-Day-Lewis film was My Left Foot or there is In the Name of the Father as well Tinky.

I actually enjoyed that - it highlighted the ethos and mores of the day, and how people bowed to the pressures of family and society (and as far, for the time, from a Martin Scorsese film you would normally expect).....

Indeed Hugh as the title of the film suggests a time of gentile manners/thoughts/morals never to be repeated in our lifetimes, if ever.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

7/10. Or maybe 8....

A very enjoyable sequel to Ritchie's surprisingly good first Holmes film.

RDJ and Law are on top form again, and Jared Harris was great as Moriarty. Nice to see Stephen Fry as Mycroft too.

Oh and...

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol

[Although the Flixster app lists it as "Mission Improvable"]

Great stuff. Great action, great gadgets. I'd like one of those iPad powered projector wall things.

7ish out of 10. Not sure if I prefer this or the third, but they're definitely both better than 1 & 2 IMO.

Some thoughts:

Spoiler:
1) What about those poor prison guards, eh? Just doing their jobs, and then a riot is staged to free Ethan and they get the crap kicked out of them, possibly even killed.

2) Was there a point to the explosive at the start, other than to provide a fuse for the opening credits? Nice credits, though... although they made me think "BOND RIP OFF!".

3) Why the hell did the Russian security forces shoot the crap out of the car with Ethan and the "Secretary"?! They just killed a high-ranking member of the US Government! A little OTT surely, when trying to catch an escaped prisoner / suspected terrorist... Would have been better if it had been bad guys working for "Cobalt".

Page One: Inside the New York Times.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1787777/

A documentary about the New York Times where they had behind the scenes access to the paper. It covers the paper but it mostly focuses on their ability to stay alive, not to go under, and if the 'old' forms of journalism can survive in the digital age. People get laid off, the paper clearly has serious challenges, they look for salvation with the paywall and the iPad. It's about how the newspaper industry is trying to survive in the face of people expecting free content and what may happen if we lost professional, paid, journalists.

They have interviews with the editor, the staff, people from their internet rivals, the founder the wikipedia (and Wikileaks, during the year was the release of the WikiLeaks papers).

I won't give it a rating but I would recommend the film, especially if your interested in the future of newspapers and/or news. It's on Netflix.

glad I saw it for free, as it's not worth paying to watch, obvious twists and turns, full of cliches, but kept as entertained for 90mins or so. Saying that, if it had been on TV we would have switched off after 20 mins, as the first 30 mins or so is quite badly acted, but after that it gets into Prison Break style silliness so improves :)

Two things that annoy me about this movie (which I haven't seen yet) are:

1. The Title - come on, Man on A ledge?

2. I assume it's about a man faking a suicide attempt whilst his buddies rob something? I had that idea for a book a few years ago! Damn my laziness in getting down to writing it. I stand corrected if it's about anything else.

Rally enjoyed it and the 3D was done really well. I was lucky enough to get the full 4D experience using D-Box tech that was just installed in Glasgow's Cineworld. Moving and shaking in time with on screen action. Was really weird at first but once I got used to it I really thought it was great.

I thought it was OK. OK, I wasn't at a cinema with all the dbox stuff.

The 3D worked well, the special effects were good, and the film was enjoyable. However, it lacked that certain something that would make me want to see it again, or look forward to it's home release.
