I moan about it, but God it's only been just over 24 hours since I finished for the year but am missing work. After being so used to being active at this time of the day it is hard to relax. I know what will happen, I'll just get used to not being active and then bang we are back at work.

New tenant moved in and when her heating was turned on I had water running down one wall, ( I know it's not her fault as the house had been left in such a state from the last tenant ) thankfully I was in the house at the time, Council workers came today to fix under her floor boards and now they have left a crack in my ceiling,

Council said to claim my insurance and my insurance will claim the council, but my premium might go up if I do this, second choice I have to pay for it myself and then I can claim a third party from the insurance, But I don't trust them as they talk their way out of everything,

weenie 15-11-2016 13:27

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Oh nash I'm so sorry to hear this has happened.

Nash it is my understanding that this is case: your insurers may then seek to recover their costs from the Council if they feel the Council has been at fault. A successful recovery by your insurers will mean that your premiums and any no claim discounts are unlikely to be affected. Double check before claiming that this is the case.

Personally I would try the route of claiming the council first but I would phone my insurance and let them know your intentions and that you will be in further contact if the council refuse your claim.

This link may be of use in where you could make a claim online if this your council, if not your local council will have similar links but here is the link for South Lanarkshire https://www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/...st_third_party and see where that takes you.

Nash I would not pay out as the council might dispute your claim therefore their is no guarantee of getting any money owed to you. I suspect that the council will do everything to avoid making this a easy claim and try and put obstacles in your way.

Good luck with whatever route you take.

In a seriously bad mood after the evacuation of the cinema at Gunwharf Quays due to a dredged up WW2 bomb in Portsmouth Harbour. Couldn't go home due to the ferries home being cancelled as well. Ended up catching a bus all the way round to Fareham which took an hour and 20 minutes before another 30 minute bus journey home.

Work, taking the absolute Michael with holidays. Been promised on 4 different days this week already that I would get an email by that evening. But none come through. Ugh. At this rate I'm going to lose my 14 days holiday entitlement.

Lots of other small things Hugh, this is the latest in a long line of incidents. If it wasn't for the fact I can't claim benefits for 3 years I would have resigned a long time ago.

Sometimes short term annoyances can lead to long term benefits - working looks good on your CV, and makes your more employable, which is a virtuous circle.

I have been working away from home through the week for the last six months, but doing this job led to a permanent job near my home, which I start on Monday.

Sometimes (and it isn't easy) we just have to suck it up, and look to the long term.

It's all true, plus there are always good points to any job. When I was 16 I got a job at the ford plant in Dagenham building a new canteen, when the job was over I had nothing else to do so when they offered me the washer up job in the canteen I took it. Was a crap job, possibly the worst I've ever had but lunch there was great, you just have to concentrate on the good parts of the job that you like rather than the negative.

MalteseFalcon 18-11-2016 19:11

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

The only positive I can get from the job (apart from the experience on my CV) is the money. But I will go back to work after Christmas with a more positive attitude and see if I can make more positives at work for me to look forward to.

Just be extra sure to fully isolate the electricity, don't just rely on the individual circuit breaker / fuse but turn off the whole panel. Naturally turn off the water.

Insurance companies, my car insurance is due.

Admiral quoted £100 more than last year, nothings changed in the last year.

So I phoned up and they knocked £100 off, as im a valued customer.

Why not give me the lower quote to start?

Because it is geared to getting new custom. You have to be prepared to at least haggle, or attempt to. My grandmother always does and generally gets a bit knocked off because she plays the OAP card.

Selfish drivers who never let anybody out of an impossible junction. tbf 90% of drivers are fine, its just the 10%, too many cars is the main problem.

Does your employer offer 'death in service' benefits?

My current one does, which was a factor in accepting the job - 4 x annual salary.

Sod plumbers, did it myself. Turns out to be a doddle if the electrics/pumbing are in place.

Only charging Mrs K £200 cash in hand, so she's made a right saving there. Think I'll her test the shower first ;)

Trying to help my dad renew his blue badge which now requires a photo to be up loaded.

Trouble is after taking the photo and cropping it my dad filled out the online questionnaire, which cannot be saved and therefore has to be done in one hit.

When we up loaded the photo, it says NOPE photo is larger than 1024kb.

So after dropping the resolution it was under the size they want.

Reupload the image and the page has timed out and everything entered is wiped.

Why not state on the first page before any information is entered what the file specs are.

I applied for a Blue Badge for the first time this year and this kept happening to me in the end I submitted the form then I forwarded my photo along with the payment of £20.00 and further information to the department that issues the badges. The whole progress took just over 3 weeks for me but that is on a first application. I would assume that it would be quicker on a renewal basis.

Any decent honest person simply calls the sender and explains they have received 2 items but they only ordered/paid for 1 item. The sender will then clarify whether or not you got one pair free, or how you should return the second pair that were sent to you mistakenly.

Re: Moans and Pet Hates part 8

Christmas. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem per se with Christmas. What REALLY gets my goat is the fact that the true meaning of Christmas is long forgotten. I remember a time when it was about FAMILY, where the thought counted and not how much debt we could run up each year on credit cards to give children a Christmas they pay for throughout the following year.

It's far too commercial nowadays, it's all about money money money. What about the real meaning of Christmas, the birth of Jesus? I'm a very poor Catholic, but it saddens me to see that religion plays a lesser role with each passing year. Maybe at the age of 32 I am turning into an old Scrooge, but I just feel sad each year when it is all about money.

Why are the extra benefits for pensioners never uprated. I am thinking of the £10 Xmas bonus and the Winter Fuel Allowance which steadily get eroded by inflation.

My poor Japanese banana palm has been badly singed by the frost last Thursday that caught me unawares. Only -3C but it's so tender. I'll have to assess the damage, trim back the affected fronds and then get the horticultral fleece wrapped round it. I think the main stems are still OK.

Sorry to hear about that old bean as the frosts were quite severe this past couple of weeks..

Yep, we've had visible frost on a number of mornings but the air temperature has been above zero. Just that night it plunged. Supposed to warm up this week.

People on facebook who post maths questions stating only genius's can answer

EG

they say 5 + 2 x 10 = 25, well I was taught that answer is 70.

They go by bodmas, but the way I was taught you only 25 if the 2 x 10 where in "()".

No wonder people struggle with maths. I think bodmas should be banned in schools.

Precedence of operators. If you're going to do any programming it's vital. Write that in a C statement and the computers answer will be 25.

* and / are higher than + or -

Patient Access. I have been locked out of my account and if that's not bad enough when I followed the link to reset it I get:

Forgotten password
Enter the following details to confirm your identity.
Please note:To securely reset your password we need to send an email to your registered email address and a text message to your registered mobile number.
This service is currently only available in England
Is it really that difficult to arrange this service in Scotland! GP in Scotland tick, Live in Scotland tick, can I get access to change my password no I blinking can't why because I live in Scotland.

If this service was not available then why then did I
1) Need to supply mobile number, security questions and email address.
2) Why does my GP practice don't know how to sort this problem and telling me to contact Patient Access.
3) Why is Patient Access telling me to contact my GP practice.
4) Does no one want to help me, it seems not

Does no one know what to do because I know I don't and now I'm rather confused where I can get help for this matter, apart from moving to England so I can get a link so I can reset my password and on that note is anyone selling their house in England so I can buy it to get the simple service of a email link for resetting a password

l hope this gets sorted out for you weenie as yes its pretty irritating when it does not make it helpful for you as we both have Patient Access in our household but thankfully we have not encountered any problems as of yet.

Working on it den but as it is a pretty new thing to myself and my GP practice were all at a loss as what to do, especially myself when I'm being advised two different things by the people who should be able to assist myself with this matter GP practice & Patient Access. All I can say is I'm it the whole experience quite frustrating atm.

That's right, you can change precedence with parenthesis so
(2+5)*10 = 70

Praise be to god that we never encountered any problems when we registered for it as being a bit of a dimwit my partner would have had to sort it out probably.

I reckon they have forgotten about it. But if you let it flutter up into their consciousness it's bound to be stopped "for austerity".

mylene klass appreciation society on facebook

I just got banned for stating a picture was a fake, the admin deleted that comment stating read rule 2, which basically said can't say anything nice the don't comment.

I posted under that but what if the picture is clearly a fake then we are getting the picture we want.

The admin banned me and has blocked me from contacting him, so he is obviously happy with fake picture on his page, I can't report it as the site is hidden.

Ugh. Was looking forward to working the 19th and 28th this month, now been added to the 29th. Don't want to do it, HOWEVER if I pull out I lose my entitlement to the bonus scheme in place. Luckily, my favourite (sarcasm mode enabled there btw) manager isn't running it so that's a blessing. Oh well, guess I have to just suck it up :(

Sorry weenie. Sucks when family disappoint you, I know the feeling after my brother this year. He's VERY fortunate he is getting anything for Christmas this year.

While mentioning my brother, he had a girlfriend so decided he wanted to sell his PS4, so as my mum has very low feedback on eBay I agreed to sell it for him. Sold it, got lumbered with loads of extra fees for it, he wasted the cash he got for it and now he is single again wants another PS4. Ugh.

Thanks Mark, nash & den I have responded to my sisters text messages with a simple OK on the occasions she has sent me a text message and ignored all her calls as I will never give her the opportunity to tear strips of me ever again nor will I ever phone her again with any information/news. To say I was totally blindsided by her response is a understatement. I know the true reason for her response and one word GUILT.
My Hubby has told her if she needs to verbally contact me to do so via him in the future he said her face was a picture.

So sorry to hear about your sister weenie. Loosing your friendship and the closeness of a lovely sister will be a high price for her to pay but you shouldn't have to put up with what she has done and I don't blame you for distancing yourself from her.

My Aunt and I were very close in age and I considered her to be my best friend, I bailed her out on many occasions and would always make excuses for her selfishness and bad manners. My husband eventually stepped in and refused to let her keep taking advantage of me. It is so sad when those closest to us choose to hurt us. I haven't directly spoken to her in over 20 years and even though I still feel the pain of her betrayal I miss her.

I just wish there had been a way back to the friendship we shared but hopefully, given time, your sister will regain your trust.

Oh dilli I'm so sorry to hear of a further set back and hospital stay all I can say is that truly sucks and I can only only imagine the despair you must be feeling right now. I hope and pray that your stay in hospital comes to a end sooner than the time frame you have been given. Take care and hugs to you and Natalie.

Thanks nash I'm feeling rather miffed and upset with my sister still and it will take a long time for me to put my guard down if at all.

My main focus was and still is for my Mum to be as comfortable as possible and to what I can to take some of the stress from my Dad and if she can't see that then that's her problem not mine. I know I'm doing everything in my power to aid both my parents.
