They're red listed and in serious decline unfortunately. Some usually come into our garden when the berries are on the holly bush (it's more like a tree!) and compete with the Blackbirds for them. They don't seem too bothered about the snails though. Maybe ours aren't tasty enough :P

I have seen several thrushes in our garden. Apart from the slugs we have what looks like families of snails who congregate in the one place, i.e. above the garage door (inside) and below the window frames (outdoors), they almost decimated our runner beans too.

Re: What have you just bought?

Some additional bird feeders as there's been a bit of argy bargy between the house sparrows and the goldfinches lately.

We've been using a mixed songbird food in the existing hanging feeders so I'm going to put out dedicated feeders with Nyjer and sunflower hearts for the goldies.

Just back from a wander round the new Victoria Gate shopping centre (and the Victoria Quarter next to it) in Leeds, and there were some 'impulse' buys.

400 Nespresso capsules
2 polo shirts from Joules (and a saddlebag handbag for SWMBO)
Le Creuset griddle pan
Pair of shoes for SWMBO from Moda in Pelle
3 candles from The White Company

and a nice Sourdough and seeds loaf from Le Pain Quotidien for lunch - yum!

New Hover mower.

Half the lawn done and no matter what I did the old one refused to Hover, stripped it down, talked to it nicely, swore at it and finally had to admit defeat - gave it a kick and went to get a new one.

Try putting a blanket over the cage - our vet advised this to us when we first got our dog (a rescue Dalmatian), as it makes them feel safe.

60kg of restaurant grade charcoal and a packet of firelighters. (Needed the later to get bill to £50 for free delivery else that would have been around £30.)

Most places sell this stuff at close to £20 for 12kg so to have offer at below £10 was too good to miss.

Flights and some of the hotel rooms to visit our son in Australia in September.

Flying with Emirates, stopping off in Dubai for one night to break up the journey, then on to Sydney for 6 days, then Brisbane for 6 days, then Melbourne for a week. Fly back via Dubai again, stopping for 2 nights, then back to Manchester.

Looking forward to seeing him again, as even though we speak a couple of times a week on FB video chat, it's not the same (and he's flying back with us, as his cousin is getting married in Kent mid-October, so he'll be in the UK for just over a fortnight before he goes back).

The wife's Moto G5 is great too. The fingerprint sensor is really quick and can be used to perform other 'home button' functions by swiping it. She loves it.

I sometimes 2 power identical tools when I see them on a good deal because buying replacement batteries can be so expensive and having a reserve battery and charger is always handy.
