Did you know 100 years ago no one was diagnosed with MS? Therefore it didn't exist. All that and they expect us to believe they didn't create it. :dozey:

Poor analogy MS did exist just wasnt recognised just as Swine Flu existed before this outreak however this is a new strain of the virus whereas as far as I am aware there isnt a new strain of MS as its an autoimmune system defect where the body attacks the central nervous system. Now if you liked it to TB which has mutated it would have stood up. Mind you you would have had to go a lot further back to where that wasnt diagnosed ;)

Lets just forget Swine flu for a sec and accept that we all know that bugs are being played with in the labs. We all know this to be the case do we not? I not think they hide the fact? we know they have some very dodgy things on the go like Ebola and the such.

Does not the law of averages state one day something will get out ;) lets hope its something mild when it does :)

My poor analogy was on purpose to highlight the conspiracy theory mind. I.E correlation equals causation. ;)

I know it wasn't a human illness but the biocontainment techniques in laboratories have already been brought into question following an out break of Foot and Mouth disease.

Stuff will get out - it has, when Foot and Mouth escaped into the English countryside due to a bio-containment failure. But that was big news precisely because of its rarity.

Influenza is already known to be a virus that readily mutates and recombines with other strains. We don't need a containment failure hypothesis to account for swine flu, or any other variety of flu. Mutation is by far the most likely explanation.

Exactly Chris, I am quite happy with the way our government has dealt with this, all good preparation for when the 'big one' comes and as much as the 'are we dead yet' lines and conspiracy analogies are pant wettingly funny, it's worth remembering that this pandemic probably isn't over, it'll most likely be back when the flu season starts in August, it could well have mutated by then.

Well now this hasn't ended the world as we know it you can bet those conspiracy fans will be on the lookout for the next chance to incite mass panic. I feel great pity for conspiracy theorists because it seems to me a horrible way to live your life constantly in fear of this and that. Yes Zing we all know many agencies are playing around with bugs and viruses that maybe in an ideal world they wouldn't but to blame or to think every little outbreak is a result of that is a tad paranoid and worrying about it a little too much. Personally i take the view you come into this life with a set amount of time and when that time is up so are you so live to the max you can enjoy each day and worry about things only when you have too.

It seams that the flu:death ratio is about 1 in 20 so far and possible the survival rate is hire if early detection.

Heard a horror story earlier though that the Autumn could be Swine flu's most deadliest hour!
