Its not free, we pay VM above average prices for broadband. For that I expect faster speeds and less limitations.

I definitely wouldn't be with VM if my ADSL line was more stable.

Its only the poor quality of ADSL infrastructure in this country that is keeping VM in users.

Seems to me that people who really cant wait for the 10mb upgrade should look at getting XL-BB, if you have a phone as well the difference between L and XL is just £4, just a thought.

I Totally agree with u on that, they state their network is capable of so much more than what BT's is yet it seems to be performing worse than BT.

yes i admit connection speeds are faster than what a lot of ADSL Companies but u dont see ADSL Companies saying u can only download 2GB between 3-9pm usually. I have been looking at an ADSL Company which yes its more expensive at £29.99 a month for upto 8mb but i can get 60GB on peak downloads and 300GB off peak downloads with NO STM.

I sympathise, believe me. Mine took a while to sort , after the upgrade happened in Stafford. Some of it down to Virgin, mostly down to my router not being good enough for the upgrade. If you are still using a 120 modem that can be part of your problem, far more likely the upgrade is not totally complete. It took a fortnight to settle down here. Even now I'm not totally sorted, I'm having problems (again ) accessing my FTP server files, and this time Abyssunderground has not been able to help, I do know it can work, for 10 days after replacing my router with a newer one,I had all the speed I should, and everything connected
Hopefully this too will pass. I still have the speed correct!
However frustrating waiting is,I still think Virgin and cable a better bet than ADSL. I hear much worse horror stories from freinds stuck with phone line connections via the BT network. They envy those able to choose cable.

I've restarted my modem quite a bit, and it's still saying 10mb, same with people I know in the area. But I'm still getting very varying speeds - anything from 2mb to 6mb (usually the lower), while mostly everyone else is getting 9mb/10mb.

We've had a new modem fairly recently (18/24 months), so I wouldn't have thought it was that. My downstream receive power level is 12dBmv (good? bad? alright?).

I don't think it's the router either, as even with a computer plugged straight in to the modem, it's still 2-6mb.

Still no news about Swansea either, Chief Execs office told me it was supposed to have been done on 14th April.

just a thought

Surely a 'G' router should be able to handle 10Mbs as its nominal rating is 54Mbs. Did you mean a 'B' router which is only rated at 11Mbs?

And out of curiosity, anyone in Belfast been upgraded yet? It's scheduled to be done this month but no sign in BT4.
