I imagine The Sun suggested that Richardson should be in the squad.

Good job too. Used to be a decent ref, but his refereeing of the Everton game last week left a lot to be desired. Obviously his footballing and business judgement have left him at the same time!

Did you see Richardson against the USA? I was there and he was by far and away one of the best players on the pitch. I don't think it's by chance that he hasn't gone on loan from Utd again this season. Judging Joe Cole's efforts the other week in Denmark, Richardson would get my vote on the left. He wouldn't go AWOL for long periods on the wing forcing Ashley Cole to hold the left side all on his own.

Just remembered...

There was a similar thing last year over here, I do not know if it was ever picked up by anyone. The refs in the premiership were sponsored by Emirates who also sponsored (then) Chelsea.

Yep, I'd noticed that... was surprised that refs should be sponsored at all, and then made the connection with Chelsea as well. I dunno... to me it just seems wrong that refs have financial backing from anyone.

I hope you were joking when you were being sad about James being dropped.

In my estimation, there is a big difference between a company sponsoring the uniforms for referees by putting a little logo on them and paying ONE half a million a year!

I doubt that they would have any influence, but it would make people worry about it

No the good news was that he was dropped, the bad news was that James wasn't retiring ;)

Depends on how much they paid the refs to put that logo on their arms. ;) Influence the whole...

Thank god for that. I doubted your sanity for a moment. He got a hell of a lot of abuse hurled at him in Copenhagen. I felt slightly sorry for the bloke at the end. :)

I hope you enjoyed the trip, if not the game.

I am slightly pensive about how England will fair on Saturday, new keeper or not
