Most footballers are horrible role models. People are flawed and footballers live and develop in an environment that isn't great for producing humble and well-adjusted characters.

Parents should do more themselves to be and/or find better role models instead of expecting a bunch of 16-30s cash-rich blokes living under a media microscope to do it for them.

Bankers get paid a huge amount do they behave responsibly, unless it's written in their contracts how they behave is no one's business but their own and who are they role models to, people without fathers or close male relatives, I've heard it said so many times that they are role models and perhaps have even said it myself but when you actually stop and think about it it's nonsense.

Germany dragged into FIFA scandal, paid multiple bribes for 2006 World Cup, not just in the form of money but also in Weaponry. Weaponry though? It's got them down as paying Saudi's in the form of Grenade Launchers... This could be astronomically bad for the German heads.

Guess we now know why they were so vocal about not boycotting the 2018 and 2022 world cups. Would've been a pot and kettle situation.

Jack Warner is tearing FIFA to shreds to save his own skin, they're all grassing in hopes of plea deals. It's brilliant.

To be perfectly honest Barcelona and Real Madrid are always going to have a great chance to win it as their teams are a bit like the Harlem Globetrotters with most of the best players in the world.

Re: Football Season 2014/15

Is that the level of ambition at Liverpool now? Danny Ings? I don't think I've seen a club so willing to nosedive into mediocrity. Rodgers can take credit for a second place finish but in reality the plaudits have to go to the second coming of the SAS. Naturally £70 million was more juicy than the prospect of winning the league or competing with the best in Europe. Now sat competing with the second best teams in Europe with no hope of a Premier League title. Balotelli and Ings

Don't get me started on the horrid defence.

Then there's Rodgers, another Moyes in charge of a giant and hopelessly out of his depth. From Houlier and Benitez to Hodgson and Rodgers, dire.

How do you sum it up? 1 step forward (Nearly winning the league title, something you should then improve upon) to 3 steps back.. Selling Suarez, keeping a makeshift defence, making uninspiring signings and hoping for the best.

I honestly thought Rodgers was gone and Klopp was in.

Finally, shipping five goals to stoke in one half is enough to get even Mourinho the sack.

Steve McClaren officially announced as Newcastle manager, Mike Ashley steps down from the Boardroom. Steve McClaren has also been appointed as a board member.

Steve McClaren, Graham Carr and Bobby Moncur are the three new board members.

McClaren has been given the task of securing a top 8 finish and to challenge for both the League and FA cup.

He's been given upwards of £70 million to start him off and a minimum target of 6 players.

Mike Ashley looking to salvage what's left and have a last ditch roll of the dice it appears. One's hoping Newcastle United are about to become a football club again.

I'm past the wally with the brolly. I was past that when I came to accept England are a dire International team with no potential or desire. Hodgson has done absolutely nothing, they're no closer to being any better than they were years ago. Simple fact is the only reason Hodgson has the job is because no half decent manager is daft enough to take it.

Not even Mourinho could bring success to the dog turd that is England.

I'll leave my judgement where it is until the window shuts. If Newcastle spend a ridiculous amount in the window then I'd like to think Ashley is back to football business.

Nice to see someone share the same views on the Sterling saga. I also have a belief he's rightin leaving too, he's a young lad that wants to get on with it now and not in this 2-3years time maybe crap people keep pulling from their backsides. You won't be winning any league title's or European trophies any time soon at Liverpool. At this very minute, he's making Liverpool not the other way round.

It's not unbiased for private companies to cater for what they believe their customers want. If consumers are unhappy with their content they'll vote with their feet. For me the biggest surprise is that Belgium are ranked second in the world, what a joke, don't rate them any higher than England tbh so that leaves plenty of teams out there better.

In that case don't you think it would be fair for these 'private companies' to charge us less as they don't consider us as important? Hypocrisy when they then claim to be 'British' publications. Downplay our success as much as you like but we drew away and beat at home the team FIFA have ranked second in the world and we're currently top of our group. England haven't come near that so far and although we've got different teams in our groups we've achieving success that would get England plastered all over the back pages had it been them.

I don't think many people care if Cardiff and Swansea play in the Premier League. I remember years ago there was talk of allowing Rangers and Celtic into the Pyramid as well. I think those teams probably now wish they explored the idea with a lot more rigour at the time.

It is technically the English Premier League and if the other members of the United Kingdom wish to operate independently of each other, with separate federations, then you would assume they would also exist in different league structures as well. Wales indeed has this but these two teams are exempt? I don't understand the history of it. However given their size it makes perfect sense for them to play in the English football system and I expect most English football fans feel the same. I also would have wanted the bigger Scottish teams here as well. It strengthens the league to have a wider range of teams.

There is no real attempt to expel Swansea or Cardiff from the league. Speaking as someone from England I would say the rivalry is more focused on Scotland than Wales.

My wifes family are mad on Celtic, but Hate Rangers. I firm.ly believe that if this ever happens, l can see lawsuits coming from every club in the EPL plus Football League.

Cardiff and Swansea got there on merit. You cannot expect Celtic and Rangers to just walk into the EPL, it wouldn't be fare.

Can you imagine was aggro there would be in the area's of EPL clubs if this happens.

Both clubs and there fans hate each other as it is.

Many years ago l went to an old firm game, and my brother in laws told me, don't talk or cheers if Rangers score.

So sorry guys, they bring trouble. (sorry to anyone in Scotland), but l can remember the London Cup, Celtic fans were a disgrace in there singing towards the English. I was there.

I didn't mean they should be thrown straight into the EPL. Those teams wanting to reach the pinnacle of English football would of course have to get there on merit by climbing up the leagues.

Fans wise they need to wise up knowing limitations. Rivalry is fine, its part of the game.

I remember when Swansea won promotion 4 years ago I tweeted about it and had a load of "keep the EPL English" abuse in return. Plus people refer to us as "junior members" of the UK.

So there's been no attempt to expel them, the biased media actually had the Welsh win as the top story on the national TV stations sports site, the claims that 'we'd' never stop going on about a high ranking were false as proven by the lack of going on about it when England were ranked 3rd. Is any thing you've said based in fact or is it just an anti English rant as usual, perhaps that's why you perceive xenophobia everywhere because you're pretty prejudiced yourself.

I think that every United fan was behind Falcao and gave him terrific support, sadly he was so far off the pace it was embarrassing at times. I for one really hope he can get back to something like his best, even if it is at Chelski.
